The Karanthan Military Conclave is an Imperial Military Junta based on the planet of Alban and both before and after their recent change of government they operate as a limited rally point for forces of Astra Militarum within the region but receives limited attention due to the sparse activity within the region of the Imperium.
Alongside its primary role, the world also is known for their raising of the Karanthan Lowlander Regiments. These are primarily supplied from a local industrial base but being geared to internal sufficiency and the unique equipment of the Lowlanders they aren’t able to supply many other forces with equipment beyond a suite of sustenance equipment.

From Nobility to Military
The roots of the original unrest which caused the conflict are unknown to those without access to private or inquisitorial records but it is known that the first shot of the planetary civil war between the Nobility and Guard aligned forces was taken during a planned firing squad execution of an Officer tried for Conspiracy Against the Throne. Seeded with other conspirators, the execution turned down an unexpected path when the firing squad turned and fired into the noble giving the commands.
This quickly devolved as lines were drawn between the Royalists and Cavaliers with lines being drawn on the map and between families from the divide in value between the faith and culture of the population. After investigation by the Inquisition, both sides of the revolt was deemed to be accepted by the Imperium so long as the continued service of the world for Imperial purposes resumes within a set period of time.
As expected by all within the conflict, those major political leaders who weren’t killed in the conflict or at their own hand were paraded around the major population centers before being publicly executed. Minor leaders were often maintained for a smoother transition into the Junta as their expertise was
Currently there has been no other issues emanating from the planet and the five requests for regiments for the Astra Militarum have all been completed with no conflict.

Seeds of Corruption
Seeking to exploit the turmoil on the planet, the Unbound Empire unofficially sponsored the military revolution, providing specialist arms and armour to the General’s forces. The more unconventional forces were kept away but sightings of Praesidium Operation Teams have been recorded but are currently being covered up by the new order. It is unsure whether this was done under the Inquisition’s nose, allowed to happen from negligence or unofficially permitted by said organisation.
With the world stabilised under the junta’s rule, the world has joined the Commonwealth of Halo States. While primarily to preserve the join Imperial operation within the region without needing to draw attention away from the central threats. Unofficially this loose union grants them access to frequent supplies for civilian and military populations which they can’t rely on the wider Imperium providing.
Despite the Ordo Luciferian’s will, there have been the early roots of ideological corruption seeded within the world. The Civilian Logistics Corps and the United Air Fleets are notable for having particular value in having the Unbound Empire as a more complete ally.
The Imperium’s popularity has always been low from the leaching of the military traditions ingrained in the civilian populus and with the recent revolt there has been more ire placed on them as they were the people who allowed the rise of the noble tyrants.

The Karanthan Lowlanders
With a civilisation which has come under the control of a junta, there was a strong military presence on the planet to begin with and these forces act as the core of their tithes and cultural identity. These guardsmen are known as the Karanthan Lowlanders, from their origins in the Ka’aran warriors, and for the purposes of the Departmento Munitorum they are regiments of light occupation infantry.
Fitting their roles, the Lowlanders are uniquely equipped with uniforms and armanets which are more easily producible by local populations. Their uniforms are generally a light set of fatigues which is coloured for their deployment zones and while they can wear armour of this set up they prefer to reserve armour for cases of major unrest and times of emergency. Around their uniform, the Karanthan’s also utilise a similarly light kit of webbing which can be filled to provide supplies for up to a day.
Along with their near complete forgoing of armour, the Lowlanders utilise the Princept Pattern Rifle which uses of a solid round chambered using a bolt action. While ineffective against an ork target, the Princept rifle remains effective against targets in Flak armour and more than a match for less armoured targets.
