Karbach Brewing’s Staycation Session (Picked up at Spec’s in Houston). A 3 of 4. As expected for the style, this is quite light, but has some nice pine, floral, and lemon hop notes in the nose. There’s some faint wheat quality in the body amidst some bready sweetness and it is nicely balanced throughout. Very easy drinking, and would be great in the heat. Still, quite simple, even for a session.
Karbach’s Hop Delusion Imperial IPA (Picked up at Spec’s in Houston). A 4 of 4. The nose is great -- really complex and lots of floral notes alongside a big wallop of tropical fruit. A bit sweet up front, but quickly fades to firm bitterness in the finish. Pretty sticky body and finishes with a more resinous hop profile. Honestly this rivals some of the best big IPAs around.
