Muppet Fact #1528
Kareem— a green rooster on the Palestinian co-production of Sesame Street Shara'a Simsim— was created to counter the stereotype that Arabs are always late.
Executive producer Daoud Kuttab said in order to break through these stereotypes and give their audience "a new moral code and higher standards,"
"Karim [sic], our boy rooster Muppet of six years old, needed to be so passionate and so obsessed with time that he would wake the other characters up, even on weekends, and ensure the residents of Shara’a Simsim (Sesame Street) arrive punctually for everything."
