Karma: *Sits on the window sill of the dorm building, staring into the ocean view*
Hey, there you are. Nervous?
Karma: Unbelievably...*They turn, their face completely deadpan* Is it possible to die from nerves? I feel like every single part of my body is trying to run to the bottom of the ocean to stay there forever. That’s normal. Right?
That’s probably standard for this kind of event. Especially a surprise one.
Don’t worry though. Yo-chan’s got everything set up. Watanabe-chan’s gonna make sure Naomi-chan wears the dress. We’re all in it. Count to 5 as you breathe in and do the same on the exhale.
Karma: *They do as instructed and sigh* I hope this goes down well.
It will. I’m sure of it.
Karma: *They look back out to the ocean* This is the day.
___________
Yuuki: ...
Kurosaki-san, make sure you’ve packed everything!
Yuuki: Right! *He stares at himself in the mirror* You can do this. You can talk to her...this is the day, Kurosaki.
___________
Yeah...this has to be it. You can do it.
Yeah! You’re awesome! You’re cool! You’re-
FF Member: *Walks into the bathroom and stares at Leon chanting into the mirror before silently leaving*
....so lame.
__________
...yeah. I’m gonna go for it. No time like the present...today...today’s definitely the day.
*Looking like he didn't sleep the night before* Karma? Can I talk to you for a second?
Karma: *Karma looks up from their book* Junpei! Youuu.... You look awful.
Don't worry, I know. I couldn't sleep, kept waking up...
Karma: *They pat down next to them, inviting Junpei to sit* I’ve been there. What’s wrong?
Um, it's about that mission I was just on...putting aside any bad memories from my time actually working at the despair base, something happened and...well, I figured you wouldn't judge me.
I...my brother was there. I kind of got cornered and I ended up...killing him.
Karma: *blinks* You killed him?
Y-yeah...b-but it was like something possessed me, I just...I kept going over and over and I couldn't stop myself and before I knew it, Ikusaba-san was staring down at me and whatever the hell I was stabbing didn't even look human a-and and- *He covers his mouth, his face a little green*
Karma: *They pull Junpei into a hug*
I j-just...i-in that moment, I d-didn't feel anything...b-but by the time we got back here, it's like it all just hit me
Karma: I get it. It’s okay, I understand. I’ve gone through that, you know I have, and that’s why you knew I wouldn’t judge you, right? *their hug tightens*
I don't know what to do...I told Ka-chan already. I just...it feels like all that blood is still on me and I can't get it off of me...
Karma: You’re having intense emotions because you’re currently processing what you did. I can’t say for certain how you’ll feel after time has passed, but I can assure you whatever you feel won’t be as bad as you feel now.
I never thought I'd feel like this. He was awful, and not in an up-for-interpretation kind of way. He was genuinely evil, so why the hell do I have to feel like this over him? It's kind he's tormenting me still from beyond the grave...
Karma: I personally didn’t feel anything when I killed my father and others, but I felt the way you do about other people. I think the fact that you feel so awful about killing your brother, who was a genuinely evil person, says a lot about who you are as a person.
...Maybe. I was worried I had made all that work all these years pointless. Like everyone would look at me how they used to, or not even look at me at all.
Karma: Things are different now.... Perhaps they would back when the world was normal, but we aren’t in a normal world anymore. A lot of us have killed now. Your reason for killing was fuelled by pain and anger, and in that moment, the pain and anger took control over your rationale. I think there’s a lot of people who wouldn’t be able to hold themselves back in the situation you were in.
I guess that's true. Thank you, Karma. I'm really glad I'm still able to count on you
Karma: You’re one of my best friends. You and Orochi. If either of you need help with this, or anything for that matter, I’m ALWAYS here. You’re my family.
You too. You, Naomi, Orochi, and everyone else in our class are family to me. A far better family at that.
Karma: I feel the same way. You’re biological family doesn’t have to be your real family. You’re real family is whoever you want them to be.
I'm glad I got to choose. *He finally hugs Karma back*
Ah. I never asked, what are you planning on doing for the final mission? Are you gonna go to the front lines?
Karma: .....I am.
They'll definitely need your strength, just be careful, okay? I'm not sure what to do. Part of me feels like I need to go out there since I was one of the reasons this whole thing happened...but I feel like I'd get swallowed up in a battle like that.
Karma: I want both you and Orochi to stay here. I- I need you both to be here for Naomi and Mado. Especially if I don’t come back.
Junpei: You're coming back. Sorry, I've already decided you are.
Karma: Junpei, it’s not good to decide something like that. If I don’t come back, that’ll just make it feel worse.
Just trying to lighten the mood. Sorry, I know it's a difficult situation, I just don't want to think that that day will be the last day for anyone we care about...
Karma: I know.... Part of me wishes I could just believe that everyone will survive. But I’ve had to learn to accept that’s not gonna be the case. *They rest their chin on Junpei’s shoulder* ...So I really need you both here for my girlfriend and my child.
I hear you...okay. Don't make plans for day six of the preparations, promise?
Karma: I promise
Awesome. I've got some things to pull together, but I'll see you around. Thank again Karma, seriously. I dunno where I'd be if you didn't save me that day of the fall.
Karma: Of course. How could I not save you? .....Could I ask a favour, though?
Sure, what's up?
Karma: I want to finally marry Naomi before I leave for the fight.
Huh?! That soon?!
Karma: I was wanting to wait longer. Y’know, until we were older and things were better. .....But we can’t get married if I don’t come back.
I get it. Uhh...I'll see if I can find anyone to marry you two, though it might be a total rush-job.
Karma: It doesn’t have to be huge. If I come back, we can redo it properly, like Noami deserves.
Got it. That might actually might make my plans a little easier. I'll make sure to get something together. So you definitely need to keep Day six available. Make sure Naomi doesn't plan anything either.
Karma: Will do. Thank you so much. I love you.
Love you too. Alright, got a lot of work to do so I'll see you soon. *he runs off*
Karma: *They go back to reading their book, ‘A Clockwork Orange’. It’s a fucked up book but hey this is Karma we’re talking about*
Class 79, if you would have graduated from Hopes Peak with no tragedy, where do you think you’d be now?
Like I’ve said before, I really wanted to be a web designer. I suppose I would’ve been making a living doing that. Hopefully still in touch with my friends but I only really became friends with people because of the Tragedy so...who knows, right?
Naturally, I would be continuing my work as a mangaka, possibly even branching out into a full one-romance story. I like to think the experience at Hope’s Peak would have given me more ideas.
I’m honestly not sure. What do lucky students do when they graduate...? Well, I at the very least hope Kobo-kun and I would have still gotten together in that time. And that I managed to make friends with the people I have...though as for my future, I’m too sure.
Amaterasu: I would’ve continue doing my work as a thief. Not much else I could’ve done. My goal was to become the biggest outlaw the world’s ever seen. The next big bandit.
Kobo: I wanted to open up my own tour company! That’s still my dream, y’hear?! And I’m not gonna let it escape me!
Sadao: I was gonna become a travelling hypnotist and do my own national tour. As long as I got to do what I loved without being restricted, it was okay.
Doi: Ah, I wanted to make my own dating reality TV show where I’d help people find their soulmates. I know a lot of people give those sort of shows flack, but I really feel like mine could have been pretty good.
Yuuki: Probably just exploring the continents like I was before enrolment. I would have probably went my whole time at Hope’s Peak without making any connections with anybody. Still wonder if that’s a good or bad thing...
Karma: In all honesty, I’d probably be back working at some corrupt agency. Shitty, huh? In some ways, the tragedy may have done some good for people.
Saori: I’d be travelling the world and starting up my own Paranormal Investigator business. I hope I can still do that...
Mami: .....I’d be with my parents and back doing what I always did.... I don’t like to think of it.
Sly: It’d be easy to say I’d be the head of the Assassin world but honestly I don’t know. I was only in my first year so a lot could’ve happened. Truthfully I don’t really know where I’m gonna be after we fix the world either.
Tsukiko: I am uncertain. Perhaps I would be exploring the outermost corners of this world, meeting cultures and societies and learning of their views
Rina: Um, well, I think I’d like to have my own tea shop, with an animal theme where I could display taxidermy if I felt up to it! A-And... I’d hope that Peko would still be with me then, and all of our friends too... even the ones who are gone.
Tomoe: I think I’d have started my worldwide debut! Back at Hope’s Peak, I actually wanted to learn English so I could do my shows all over the world!.... well, maybe I still can after this mess!
