Deanoru ficlet: Hickey
From a prompt by @odd-pale-and-chubby
Karolina smoothed her hair back and to the side so she could start to braid. Her lips curved into a satisfied smile. She turned her head side to side, looking in the mirror to see if she was achieving the right effect. A few strands of blonde waves still hung around her face but the whole picture was perfect.
No one could miss it, not even Nico.
She turned and walked over to the bed where Nico was resting, Karolina tugged at the wire connected to the earbud in Nico’s ear. They were like this more often now, relaxed and quiet with one another. It felt right and normal but they were stolen moments. Something would come along to disrupt their lives again. For now, she just wanted to enjoy being young and and in love.
Nico rolled over and faced her with a frown. She cleared her throat and looked up to find out why she’d been disturbed.
“Hey, do you want to go for a walk with me?” Karolina asked.
She watched Nico’s eyes examine her face and waited. The suspense wound tightly in her body, making her bounce on her feet a few times.
Nico’s mouth fell open and she gasped.
“Holy shit, did I do that?” Nico asked.
“Do what?” Karolina played innocent.
Nico cocked her head to the side, resting on her elbow.
“The giant hickey, Karolina. The one that you’ve obviously seen,” Nico answered.
“Ohhhhh, that,” Karolina said, sitting down on the bed and reaching out to softly rub Nico’s bare arm. She smiled when she felt the soft, smooth texture. “Pretty sure that was you.”
“Hold on, I’ve got some concealer in my bag,” Nico started.
Karolina gripped her arm and stopped her from moving.
“I don’t need it,” she said.
“But… everyone’s going to see that,” Nico protested.
“So, what? Then they’ll see it. I’m not ashamed. It’s kind of hot, don’t you think?” She asked.
“Uh, except they’re going to give us so much crap,” Nico said.
“Maybe it’ll convince Xavin to stop calling me her betrothed,”Karolina said, rolling her eyes.
Nico was silent, one eyebrow raised, considering that twist in logic. A smile crept onto her face and she reached out to catch Karolina’s hand.
“Actually, maybe I should just give you some more,” Nico suggested.
Karolina laughed and leaned down, coming close to Nico’s face. She braced herself with her free hand and placed a light kiss on Nico’s lips.
“Maybe you should,” she replied.
She held close for a moment, letting the promise of more linger. That’s what it took for Nico to push forward and pull her onto the bed. Their bodies shifted so that NIco was above her, pushing her head gently to the side and dipping down to pepper her neck with more kisses.
The original make out session that resulted in the hickey had been three-quarters of an hour before, too long ago in Karolina’s estimation. Maybe this time she could convince Nico to miss dinner with the others and stay with her for a different kind of dinner.
