Kashtin - ‘E uassiuan’ - 1989

Kashtin were a Quebecois First Nations (Montagnais) folk duo from the Maliotenam reserve, whose first album became a popular hit, even though it was recorded completely in the Innu-aimun language, which at the time had only 12,000 speakers. The name ‘Kashtin’ means ‘tornado’ in their language, and it’s also a pun on ‘cashed in’.
