“this hurts me far more than it hurts you.”
you knew what was coming. and toshiro knew that you knew. both of you had been aware that this relationship couldn't keep going on forever, no matter how badly you two wanted it to.
“just… get it over with, alright?”
you didn't want toshiro to explain anything to you. you knew that the reason he had to leave you was his father, deciding that you weren't part of that perfect image that he was building up for his son. you knew from the start that in the eyes of his father, you would never be good enough for toshiro.
“i can't see you anymore. we're done.”
toshiro obliged your request, telling you outright that this was the end. this perfect relationship you two had, ripped apart by the will of his father. or rather, the lack of resistance from toshiro, who simply did as he was told.
“i understand.” you nodded, trying to stay strong. you didn't want toshiro to see you crying. you didn't want to let him know how much you truly cared about him. because all of that didn't matter anymore. nothing you could say or do now would make a difference.
“i hope it'll be worth it.”
the words slipped out of your lips, even if you had intended to keep them to yourself. quietly, you turned around. for a moment, you hesitated, waiting to see if toshiro had anything to say. but when he didn't, you took it as a sign to leave.
“i hope so too…” toshiro softly mumbled, as soon as you were out of sight. if he had to lose you to secure his future, he truly hoped it wouldn't all be for nothing…
