“So I heard, there is a new trainer at the gym!!”
Ino and Sakura were in a very long line at a local convenience store. Apparently, someone upfront caused a fiasco with the cashier. Sakura looked at her watch and saw that if the cashier doesn’t hurry, she’ll be running 15-mins late - something her boss will never tolerate.
“I don’t really care, Ino. You know why I decided to return to my training.”
“Yeah, because lover-boss told you so.”
Sakura rolled her eyes. Yes, it is true that Sasuke told her to go back to training. After that whole mob-thing that happened with the paparazzi, it was only common sense that Sakura started practicing her karate again. Of course Sakura wanted to go back to the Senju dojo where she trained with Tsunade but seeing as she can’t travel that far distance because of her school, work and her sudden celebrity status, Itachi offered the Uchiha gym instead.
“He’s not my lover-boss, Ino. He’s my childhood friend - slash - boss - “
“ - SLASH- CLICHED LOVE INTEREST…”
“ - slash - cliched love – wait, what?! INO?! I told you, things have changed. Its no longer the way it was before.”
“Suit yourself, pinky. Anyways, what’s up with the line. We’ve been here for like 30 mins already.”
“Let me check.”
Sakura then walked over to the front of the queue and saw a lean built man with burgundy hair arguing with the cashier.
“I know you’re doing your job, but see, here, you’re selling Blue Rose energy drinks but you’re not an authorized reseller!! Don’t you know we are affiliated with a company that can buy you out?“
“Sir, if you have a complaint, kindly email us through [email protected] or call +81-000-1000-0000“
“YOU’VE BEEN DRONING OVER AND OVER about that! I want to — !”
“Excuse me sir, but I believe you’re holding up the line. If you have a complaint, just listen to the kid. Its already been 10 minutes.” Sakura interjected, her voice calm and firm.
“Well excuse you ms… Oh hello there sweet cheeks…” He said, and leaned ‘seductively’ on the counter and looking at the pinkette from her hips to her face and finally to her chest. “Why don’t you get more angry at me over dinner? I do love a feisty girl.”
Sakura rolled her eyes and folded her hands over her chest. The man was good-looking, especially in his perpetually white button-down shirt and black slacks. But there is an arrogance in him that makes her wanna punch his cherubic face to oblivion.
“With due respect, sir. You are a disturbance.” She said, standing her ground and making her voice firmer. “All these people have places to be and you are causing a lot of inconvenience.”
“And will all due respect, kitten, I’d like to ask you out for a date.” He said, winking at her.
Not taking any of this bullshit, Sakura opened her unpaid bottle of strawberry soda and poured it all over the guy.
“Please take that as a no.” She said as she slammed some cash on the counter.
“Cmon Ino.” She said as she dragged Ino out of the convenience store while the random people in the line cheered.
Sasuke was waiting for her outside the women’s locker room, didn’t look up as he was typing down on his phone. Apparently he got some urgent email from an Uchiha corp partner about sales ,and he does not look happy. He was already in his kendogi but his shinai was no where near him.
Sakura entered the locker rooms, her voice barely audible as she spoke.
“I’m sorry. But you didn’t have to wait for me, you know. I left my water bottle at home and I had the urge to drink strawberry soda. Besides, I wasn’t supposed to late. Some jerk held up the line for 10 minutes. By the way, the new gym trainer will be coming in today. Has he arrived yet?”
“No, but his brother texted me.”
Sakura gave a ‘meh’ face and went out in her karategi. Her Sunday afternoons were now spent like this: in the gym, with her practicing her Karate by sparring with a personal trainer and Sasuke doing some of his Kendo. Things were peaceful until Sakura accidentally broke her trainer’s wrist and the poor guy had to rest. Sasuke will probably never tell her, but he was delighted the Sakura broke the guy’s wrist - after all, he was giving her the googly-eyes, especially when the girl was in the zone.
But Sasuke didn’t know the worse was yet to come.
The gym doors opened and a huffing man with burgundy hair entered. His clothes stained with strawberry soda. He was angry and irritated and went straight to the men’s locker room, not even looking at Sakura who looked at him with wide-eyes.
“That’s the jerk who held up the line! Don’t tell me he’s the one Karin hired!”
“His brother’s company is one of the many small businesses we cater - Aobara Manufacturing. They’re an upcoming business with lots of potential and mainly delve on food and beverage.”
Sakura gaped as Sasuke stood and walked over to the dojo room of the gym and gotten ready to practice his kendo. Sakura followed his suit and began warming up by doing her kata. They both usually minded their own training at this point but loud shouting from the lockers disturbed the peace.
“Where is my welcoming committee?! My brother’s company is an important asset to Uchiha Corp and I’m getting all this disrespect?!”
Sakura swears she saw Sasuke’s eyebrow twitch.
“Don’t. I’ll handle this. Don’t let him disturb your... erm... inner peace.” she said as she walked over to the source of the shouting.
Aobara Yoichi was a guy of many talents, lots of Instagram followers and lots of ex-girlfriends. His brother, Yoshimi, is his complete opposite. A goal-driven, hard-working, business-minded, shy-type. The exact reason why he decided to become a gym instructor - to be worlds away from his brother.
And also because he knew he didn’t want his good looks wasted, like Uchiha Sasuke. In Yoichi’s opinion, a young man with Uchiha Sasuke’s looks shouldn’t waste his younger years on an empire.
“Tch.” he said as one of the gym staff tried to appease him. “I’m sick of incompetent staffing. I want to speak to Uchiha Sasuke directly.” he said as the poor attendant clambered to the dojo room.
“That won’t be necessary, Shou jii-san. I’ll take it from here.” Sakura said as she gently touched the elderly’s shoulder for comfort. “Thank you, Sakura-sama”
“Thank goodness, management.” he said turning around. After seeing Sakura, Yoichi’s face twisted into a smirk.
“Looks like fate brought us together again, kitten. Guess we now know where your claws come from. How bout a round of sparring in bed?” he said as his arm snaked around Sakura’s waist. The girl gave his hand an iron grip before removing it from her waist.
“I speak for Uchiha Sasuke. Any message you wish him to receive goes through me. You were due to meet Uzumaki Karin at the Uchiha Towers this morning but you didn’t show.”
The arm found it’s way to Sakura again, this time, it was her shoulders.
“Don’t be so stiff, sweet cheeks. It’s very unbecoming.”
Huffing up a sigh, Sakura swiftly moved to face Yoichi and took him down before straddling him and feinting a punch. Smirking, Yoichi maneuvered his way to the top, reversing the position.
“You may specialize in Karate, kitty cat, but everyone knows you need to master Judo to know how to pin someone down.”
Sakura was red in the face with anger and was about to lash out until the sharp tip of a katana found its way to Yoichi’s forehead.
“I suggest you leave, Aobara-san, before your brother hears about you harassing my secretary.”
Sasuke returned his Kusanagi back into the sheath as he and Sakura walked back to the dojo room.
“W-was he supposed to be my new personal trainer?”
“No.” came the rough reply.
Sakura remembers how Yoichi went as white as a sheet when he saw the young Uchiha’s face and menacing aura; while she herself felt a rush of blood shoot to her face, making her redder than a cherry.
“Oh. Do I need to call Karin to find a new one?” she asked as she looked at the ground, only to feel the pull of Uchiha Sasuke’s arm, making their faces inches from each other.
“Sakura, from now on, I’ll be your sparring partner.”
