Zuko stared at Katara, his mouth gaping slightly open as he looked between her and the sweatshirt that she was currently wearing. He knew that she was often coming over to his apartment, it only made sense because of how close they had recently got. Bu when exactly did she steal it? Finally his eyes rested back on hers and they narrowed. “I’ve been looking for that.”

His lips pressed together before they audibly popped when he opened his mouth. “Katara.” He said her name slowly, quietly, yet loud enough so she would still hear it. “I will take it back with whatever means are necessary.” Zuko inhaled deeply as he squared his eyes on hers. “And if you don’t get it back, I will be forced to use these means.”

Heavy eyelids betrayed Zuko and he felt them slowly open. At first everything was blurry, and the weight of his lids threatened to lull him away into the stupor of dreamland. But then his sleepy vision focused on the darkened expanse in front of him, and he found himself staring at the familiar furniture within Katara’s apartment. The television’s glow, depicting an image of a bearded man continuously crying “shamwow!”, offered a tiny bit of light in the late hours of the night.

“When did I-?” The firebender attempted to staighten his body as he spoke

Golden eyes stared at the girl, watching the lights dance across Katara’s face, before he softly sighed and gave the tiniest smile. Carefully, he tried to move his arm around Katara, holding his breath as her head rolled from his shoulder toward his chest. Before he knew it, he was wrapping his arm around her shoulders. His fingers flexed, hesitant about the action he just pulled, before they finally relaxed and his palm rested against her bicep.

“It’s okay,” he whispered, the weight of his eyes finally getting the best of him. Zuko’s eyelids shut as his head slowly drooped against Katara’s hair. He was too tired too fix it, dreamland already calling his name. This was comforting, or perhaps he was just too exhausted. “Just- just go back to sleep.”

The captured performance, trapped behind a thin screen in a thin mechanical contraption, had caught Zuko’s attention as he idly watched it with bored anticipation. He had been following the plot for the most part, but he knew that his questions, little nit-picky ones that tore apart the oblivious holes within the plot, were better left unsaid.

If the firebender wasn’t always aware of his surroundings, then he would have missed the girl that had fallen asleep against him. Cool golden eyes continuously glanced at her, momentarily wondering if he should awaken her from her stupor. Every time he decided against it, his attention flickering back to the television so he could continue immersing himself into the program. When the movie ended, he was left alone with his thoughts and a girl still sleeping against him. Again, he considered waking her up, but he realized that her stress might have been causing her indecent nights. So the best he could do was let her sleep.

“It’s fine,” he mumbled. “You obviously needed it, but I’m not letting you know what you missed.” Releasing his breath, he turned his head towards her as he softly smirked, humor lighting up in his eyes. “You should know that you’re very loud when you sleep. Snoring.”
