Even though no one has really been watching them, I have done another Sketchbook Diary video as I am finding it really fun. It's quite fascinating to watch your own process back when you are not 'in the zone' and gives you a chance to look at your work in a different way. Also find it helps motivate me a little, as having some kind of finished product rather than a sketch that gets lost in the pages of your sketchbook is quite nice. So here is the latest, I loved watching A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix and the styling and scenery was so beautiful. So I decided to draw Count Olaf. So glad I had enough amazon vouchers left over to get myself faber castell Pitt pastel pencils as well as prismacolour, have always been a big pastel fan and had a couple of these and loved them. Just to suss out this using them together with prisma's etc, it seems some prismas go well over the top and some don't. But so far, I am a fan of mixing the two. Still lots of work to do on this one, but happy with the effect so far. Always like to do a little collage to analyse my improvements etc in my latest body paints. Body painting to me is a personal challenge. I strive to surprise myself with each paint that I do. A lot of people still don't quite understand body painting and often ask 'why do all that for it to just wash off?' For me personally, this is the greatest rush that I get from body painting! Many artists will sit and spend hours and hours on a piece such as a drawing, a canvas, often going back to it to touch up, adjust etc. For a body painting you have about 6 hours and that's it, to cover a whole body front to back in as much detail as you can. It is that 'challenge' that I really get buzzing about with body painting. I feel it's a great test to any artists abilities, and when you create something that you are proud of you learn so much about yourself and your skills along the way. I find that it really helps me train my artistic abilities and helps me improve all round in my artwork, just because of the speed at which you have to work for body painting. I feel it improves my all round artistic abilities as its almost like an intense training session. And it's quite the adrenaline rush!
