TAG - you're it! State 10 random facts about yourself. Then tell 10 other people they're it! Get it to!
1. I leave my dishes in the sink for too long. It's been the source of many a fight with a roommate, but it doesn't bother me.
2. My glasses are fake. I wear them in part because they cue people to take me seriously.
3. My biggest insecurity is to not be taken seriously. I was a smart kid, but dismissed for my age, so I'm still carrying baggage from that.
4. My next several tattoos will be Gayle Rubin's charmed circle, a black-and-white sketch of Proginoskes from A Wrinkle in Time, and possibly the Black Lotus tattoo from Sherlock.
5. I love big cities. Just spent the weekend in San Francisco and damn, I just love that city especially. I like being near the pulsing throbbing hum of humanity, even if I decide to stay in or whatever.
6. I'm working on being a kinder person. For most of my life, I believed that smart people didn't need to be nice. Now, I think that I'd like to use my intelligence to give others the type of kindness they need.
7. For example: At Pride this weekend, a girl was dancing in the street topless but with pants on. She seemed comfortable, but a little shy. We made eye contact while dancing a few times, then started dancing together. I told her she was really brave and put comforting touch into our dancing, like hand-holding and hair-petting. She seemed really happy and my friends told me later that I'd obviously given her what she was looking for.
8. I have intermittent depression that makes me feel like a boring fuckup, which is why I try to record things like #7 when they happen. Those memories help me shake out the bad feelings and remember that I'm a decent and exciting human being.
9. My hobbies include knitting, crochet, and weightlifting. The next few I want to pick up are shooting (I have a pass to a range), archery (I've already done it once and I was decent), and lockpicking.
10. Two of my favorite feelings are:- "I told you so" (I'm a bit of a bastard) and- doing something that I used to be intimidated by.
11. I really wish that Morse quipu thing had taken off. Knots have been another hobby this summer.
(Tagging my next 10 in the tags because I do what I want.)
