Fuck it, I give in. Mom!Jane post, here you go.
She loves her grown ass babies. And ANNA is her favorite.
Thats a total shock to everyone, and Kitty is closely followed, but Anna just doesn’t stress Jane out. She’s the good child. Kind of. When Anne is involved Anna can get a bit reckless. But Anna desperately needed family. She left her home and never saw her own mother again. She’s so kind, and so sad. Jane couldn’t help but basically adopt the woman on the spot. She reassures her and keeps her company when needed, and Anna does the same for her newfound mother figure.
Kitty, as mentioned, is the second favorite. She is by no means the good child. Sass! Jokes about everything!! Deadpan snark!!! BUT is actually very sweet after a while. The rivalry in the show mimics the queens early dynamic, where Kitty was sarcastic and Jane was defensive. Once they get past that they realize Jane never got to have a child and Kitty never got to be a child so they may as well fill out the hole in their hearts for each other. (Within set boundaries ofc.)
Anne doesn’t take well to being mothered. She HAD a mother, thank you very much. Her experience with family has always been rocky. She’s not very enticed by the idea of having another. Jane is determined though!! She knows how much Kitty means to her, and they’re cousins too, she can get past the hostility. She’s never not been able to do something once she sets her mind to it. After they get through their anger and their past They become quite the duo. Jane allows her to be chaotic within reason. She even participates as long as it doesn’t ruin the house or harm anyone. And she holds Anne back from going too far when she needs to.
Cathy was straight up terrified to make any kind of connection to Jane. Whether it be how high of a regard the woman was held at in their past lives, or how Cathy had tended to Edward as her own and now has to face his mother, or anything else, Cathy avoided any type of bonding. However, similar to the situation with Anne, Jane is determined. She wants to get to know the woman who cared for her son. She wants to officially meet the survivor in all that that means. When she does though all she sees is a broken woman who has been hurt countless times and lost everyone she’s ever loved. She holds her close, and tells her she’s not going anywhere. Jane promises she’s not going anywhere, and she wont hurt Cathy. And after a while, Cathy starts to believe her.
Aragon is the last one to get ‘mommed’. Mainly because Jane looked up to the woman so much. She never thought she could potentially be there for someone that strong. The starting point is when Aragon does something absolutely dangerous and doesn’t have her phone and so no one can contact her, and Jane flips her shit. (Out of love.) Aragon is backed into a wall as Jane goes off about how “Irresponsible that was! Did you think we wouldn’t know??? That we wouldn’t be worried???? What on earth do you have to say for yourself?” At this point Jane is well established as the mom friend you don’t want to cross. The others gather to see it go down and Aragon gets sat down in private to talk about responsibility and respect for the rules. From then on the others give her tips on how to deal with mama bear Jane. (Aragon acts indignant, but is secretly elated someone cares about her that much.)
