Katherine Lucy Bridget Burke is an English actress and comedian. She appeared in sketch shows such as French and Saunders, played a recurring role as Magda on the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, and performed frequent collaborations with fellow comedian Harry Enfield.

KATHY BURKE

            Kathy Burke is an English actress, comedian and director. She played Magda in Absolutely Fabulous and best known for playing Linda La Hughes in Gimme Gimme Gimme (1999-2001). She’s also played more serious roles, including her brilliant performance of Mary I of England in Elizabeth (1998). She has also appeared in French and Saunders, Sid and Nancy (1986), the Fat Slags (1992, Sandra), Let Them Eat Cake (1999), and Celebrity Gogglebox (2014).

            Burke was born in London, England, and was brought up in Islington. Her mother sadly passed away from cancer when she was two years old and she was brought up by her neighbours until she moved in with her Irish father ‘Paddy’ who also died from cancer in 1985.
