Doodle based on some disheartening ai art i found of kat. Pixiv is basically full of ai katrielle art nowadays 😞

I despise what generative ai and large language models are doing to the creative scene and more importantly the environment but at the very least I'm not hopelessly demotivated whenever I see ai images. In a weird way, they motivate me to create more. Outbreed the enemy. It's not a particularly realistic goal but it drives me all the same 🤷‍♀️

I know we love to clown on Ernest for being a simp, but if I was a sad lonely little orphan boy with a decade long grudge and I got accused of a crime I didn't commit only for an absolutely gorgeous woman to appear out of nowhere to stand up for me, I would also drop everything to follow her around and do literally everything she asks

Thank you! Positive point about the most unpopular game in the franchise… Kat and Ernest are adorable together?

They’re not super deep characters and their connection definitely could’ve been explored more, but they’re cute as they are. I like how Kat is shown to be missing her dad (in her dreams/visions) and she is actually a lonely person, deep down, but then Ernest shows up actively wanting to help her and spend time with her. Kat doesn’t need to return his affections but you can’t tell me she does enjoy having her own personal cheerleader.

And I’ve probably said it before but I love the final scene in the anime version of Case 12: ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’. Ernest has packed his things and he’s all ready to leave the detective agency (and probably London), but then Kat comes along with a heavy bag that she asks Ernest to help her carry inside. She acts like absolutely nothing has changed between them and it’s just another day at the agency. Ernest starts to tear up but then he helps her and they head inside the office together… It’s one of the most heart-warming, subtle moments from a very unsubtle anime. (I say fondly.)

Thank you for letting me yap about them! Whenever I see hopes that the new game will retcon LMJ and the anime out of existence… I get it, the plot’s writing is awful, but at the same time, I’ll be chucking Kat and Ernest (and Marina, Hastings, Emiliana, Liza Wight, Hessie Tate, Mayor Lowonida, and Sherl, I guess) into an AU universe to keep them safe. I do hope NWoS can exist while allowing LMJ to still exist… it’s set like 2 years before Kat is born, so should be fine. But we’ll see!
