The toast I eat with jam in the morning is delicious.
I FUCKING LOVE YURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know what, it’s 2026, it’s time we have this conversation Professor Layton fandom:
Layton’s Mystery Journey is way too over hated.
Whoa, whoa, put down your pitchforks, let me explain. I won’t lie, LMJ has its fair share of major flaws; its storytelling and puzzle design suffer quite a bit. However, we can’t deny that things like the LMJ anime are actually very solid pieces of Professor Layton media that deserve far more attention than they receive. Even though I often find myself disinterested in LMJ and what it adds to the Professor Layton series, I can still find aspects of it to enjoy.
I believe a huge reason the fandom has doomed LMJ to an eternal pit is simply because we’ve been told to. Much of the hate comes from people who haven’t really experienced LMJ for what it has to offer and only have heard about how “bad” it is. I’m not saying you have to play LMJ, but at least consider watching some of the anime. I think it’s time we start realizing that even though LMJ has its fundamental flaws, it’s still a very decent game, and so is the media that surrounds it.
Let’s give this another go around:
Which PL game do you associate with prev?
Curious Village
Diabolical Box/Pandora’s Box
Unwound Future/Lost Future
Last Specter/Spectre’s Call
Miracle Mask
Azran Legacy
VS Phoenix Wright
Layton Brother’s Mystery Room
Layton’s Mystery Journey
Multiple/Don’t know
I drew the quartet in the outfits from this post (Fashion show! – @laytontreasures on Tumblr)!
I love Katrielle Layton as a character.
She’s funny, daring, bold, witty, selfish, outspoken, selfish, greedy, and rude. She’s a lot of things I wish a lot of the other PL ladies got more of a chance to be. (Especially Flora. I love Flora, but Level 5 do not care for her story outside of Curious Village.)
Kat’s so much like RANDALL, who seems to be a favourite character for a lot of people.
Kat is also kind, brave, and lonely. She shows sympathy to other orphans, like Liza and Ernest. She strives to be a true gentleperson, just like her dad. She wants to be so much like her dad…
I wish we got to see more of that vulnerable side to Kat. I wish she got more development as a character. (Not like AZRAN LEGACY levels of backstory and trauma, but something more like what the opening cutscene of LMJ hinted at.)
I wish we could see Kat grappling with the legacy of being a ‘Layton’. I wish we got to see her interact with her whole family, with the ‘older’ characters in the series…
As she is, Kat is amazing. But I’ll always regret the missed potential for Kat as a protagonist and for LMJ as a whole.
