These are my reviews on the people who I believe are amazing on this show. Don't get me wrong, the other contestants are just as talented but these are the three who I truly believe can become true artists.
I rated each performance and I know not everyone will agree with me so I would also love to hear your opinions XD
Josh Kaufman - All of Me(Perf 1) 90/100
Wow, I thought Josh did and amazing job with this song but if I am completely honest I don't think he beat his last performance. I just feel that this song is way too linear(there is no real point for a climax). I wasn't a fan of this song to begin with but that doesn't mean I love the message behind it. So all in all I just believe that there was more to be desired, from song choice, emotion, and vocalization.
Kat Perkins - Chandelier(Perf 1) 99/100
This was definitely her moment and one of her best performance. She keeps on coming back every week from the eliminations stronger and stronger. I am so surprised that Adam had an amazing song choice. This was utterly perfect and I honestly don't think there is a better song. I was captivated through the entire performance and the only tiny problem I had was that she was slightly off the rhythm in the middle of the song but she controlled it by the end.
Christina Grimmie - Hide and Seek(Perf 1) 88/100
This was a big blow for me. I think Adam took a huge ass risk and this time it didn't pay off. But for originality and vocal prowess I gave this performance an 88. Because Christina did sing this song perfectly it just wasn't the best song choice but she performed it to the best of her ability.
Josh Kaufman - Love Runs Out(Perf 2) 94/100
It was a lot better than the first performance and damn Josh was amazing. His voice inflections and power and control was just pure perfection. I just don't know if a rock esque song fits with Josh considering how delicate his voice is. The reason why I love his voice is because it is unique and it is interesting. There are things he does with his voice that no one else can. He has mastered controlling his voice and milking every little querk, and that is why he usually sings slow songs to show off those querks. And personally think that the track overpowered him quite a lot. But other than that it was an amazing performance and I really want him to do well.
Kat Perkins - Let It Go(Perf 2) 92/100
There are so many renditions and covers of this song out there, which is why it is very hard to out do. And of all the version that I have listened to I would say this is one of the better ones but it isn't different enough, I have pretty much seen it before. This is not her typical song and I respect that she did it for the kids. She was shakey in the beginning and off pitch at times but she pulled through and delivered a strong and powerful climax at the end.
Christina Grimmie - Some Nights(Perf 2) 96/100
I thought this was a very powerful and beautiful performance. I believe this was a thousand times better than her first performance and this was definitely more up her alley to show her artistry. In the performance she sings at a pretty low key then rises at the end of the phrase to her high pitches, for what she is know for.(she does this for pretty much every phrase) And I believe this gives the song a strong dynamic but because of this it lessens the blow of the climax. Her high note again was as flawless as ever and as crazy as ever. The falsetto she went into near the beginning of the song was amazing I just wish she focus more on it to make it even more crisp. Overall I would say she did an amazing job, just the arrangement could use a little fine tuning but besides that it was great.
Pretty much this was an amazing night and Kat and Christina stole the show for me. Their song choices were slightly lacking except for Kat's first song because that was unexpected and amazing how she performed so masterfully. Kat showcases her fighting spirit and her conviction, that is why it was such an amazing performance and the one that I gave the highest score; oh and she sang it almost perfectly. Christina on the other hand was great and I believe she did the best she could with her first song but the second one she pushed and did an amazing job. The song choice again was alright but it was for her friends and I respect that.
I wish Kat, Christina, and Josh the best of luck! And just saying if you guys don't know already but TEAM GRIMMIE ALL THE WAY!!!
P.S. I'm still waiting for anyone to get the 100, but who knows what the finale will bring.
