As someone who was lurking in the Goncharov fandom back in like 2015, I’m so relieved that the resurgence of fans aren’t treating Katya like everyone used to. I’m always so fed up of the female love interest ‘getting in the way’ of your gay ships and being hated as a result. Yes Goncharov and Andrey are fruity, yes Katya is an incredible character with some fruity vibes herself (looking at the apple scene with Sofia 👀), no you don’t have to ignore her incredibly nuanced and fascinating character in favour of despising her existence because you’re a Gonchrey shipper
"goncharov and andrey" this, "gonchrey" that, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THESE MEN. who's gonna be the sofia to my katya
katya and sofia dancing to the masochism tango. if you even care

There is so much that can be said about the themes of passion and betrayal and the eroticism of being betrayed in Goncharov. Like it makes me insane. Betrayal as a declaration of love, while also as an admittance that you're aware that love will destroy you, and that ultimately you have to save yourself from that destruction at the cost of a happy ending. Absolutely feral. Just batshit crazy.
