People (my mom) keep telling me that writing a book series about animals firmly places me in the children's genre. This might be true. However, I would like a second opinion.

Are stories about animals inherently aimed at children?

Every time i feel a certain way i like to work on my wip fanfic that i started Specifically For projecting that certain way feeling on Fictional Character and it makes me feel a little better
