A CLEAN & FORGIVING INEBRIATION [KAVA KAVA] The kava root has been used for social and ceremonial purposes for at least 3,000 years, and continues to be used recreationally across Pacific Polynesia to this day. Regarding its effects, it is commonly referred to as a relaxant, a sedative and a euphoriant.

Taken orally as a drink, I found it to be all of these. It felt like a clean and forgiving alcohol: all the positives but with no loss of clarity and no hangover. I have to say that I really enjoyed it, so much so that I picture myself drinking it in the social setting of one of the kava bars that have sprung up around the world in recent years. One day...
