Long Lake offers one of the most complex habitats in the Rock Island Southern Lagoon. The mile long lake is accessible by kayak at the high tide via a crystal clear mangrove forest entrance. Flowing waters carry the kayakers through a canopy covered paradise, dripping with orchids, ferns, and mosses. Once inside the lake, explorers are greeted with Ancient Cycads, Nesting Birds, and Juvenile Rays. The lake is also home to the “Mother Tree” which is arguably the largest Urur (Sonneratia alba) in all of Palau. This massive marine habitat also boasts two satellite lakes (Hidden & Mystery Lake), both of which offer unique bio-fauna attractions. The cathedral- like walls of Long Lake also shelter some of Palau’s most pristine coral habitats.
