@kckuhaku asked: phalanges & spine
Phalanges ( what is their relationship with touch ? )
The automatic answer would be…complicated. Because of the constant battles, the constant threat around every corner that does not allow for a moment of peace that would allow him to be able to remove his armor – both physically and metaphorically. How does one even begin to even peel away those layers that had protected him? When in the next moment that peace and comfort can be taken away and all that will be left is a blade embedded within his chest?
Every part of him is shielded, the only skin he shows is his face but even the spikes on the side of his helmet don’t allow for any form of touch.
Does it frighten him? Maybe.
Gentleness is foreign to him – all he has known was the touch of blades and battle, so who can say that he will easily welcome gentle touch?
Even when he himself is offering said touch, there is always a layer between him and anyone else he reaches out to. Because skin to skin contact? That is something he can’t quite wrap his head around.
Even in scenarios like Duellum, he wears so many layers and I doubt he would ever reach out first to others. Because that protective layer isn’t there between his hand and the other’s. Maybe part of him yearns for it but he’d never beg for it, never – but he also doesn’t know how to ask for it.
So like I said…it’s complicated.
He wants it but at the same time he doesn’t.
I think it just takes time for him to get used to it and it has to be with the right people or even just one person, to assure him that he won’t be burned when offered a gentle hand to hold.
Spine ( when do they lose their backbone, what scares them ? )
This man is as unshakeable as the mountain, a will that's stronger than iron -- he faces any foe gallantly and will never run. He has proven it time and time again.
Because he is The Warrior of Light.
That being said, despite this man made of courage itself -- it doesn't mean he doesn't know what fear is.
He felt the first pangs of fear, when he first came to be -- uncertain what his purpose in life should be, aside from fighting. It was also one of the many lessons that Prishe taught him -- to feel fear, is to know one is alive, that is the first step.
Since then, there are few instances where he would feel the fear -- like being too late to help, or being unable to save everyone dear to him. Or failing at his mission, the darkness, being unworthy of upholding the light -- so on and so forth.
But he would never be brought to his knees, no, as someone once said -- knocked down seven times, get back up eight. That's how it has always been for him and the Warrior won't let something like fear stop him from fulfilling his duty.
