astro as drama ideas i had (part 3)

eunwoo: after lying on her resume, a woman accidentally becomes a kpop idol’s manager (i’ll wait for your call)

sanha: a girl who bases all of her life choices on statistics and calculations is hit by a wave of events that, at least statistically, don’t seem realistic at all (a series of statistical impossibilities)

moonbin: the story of a boy who makes it rain everywhere he goes and a girl who has never seen a single drop fall from the sky (the sun is always shining somewhere)

rocky: a man keeps getting suspected for crimes he did not commit and needs to find the real killer to clear his name (justice is a stupid thing)

jinjin: a violin prodigy has to relearn how to play the violin after going deaf. too bad that her teacher is the most annoying person on earth (muted)

mj: when a death god accidentally reaps his souls, a boy has to find a way to be alive again (welcome to your death)

my friends about astro

mj: “why is he like this? is he always like this?” - “like what?” - “like a gremlin.” - my friend after watching an astro play with me

jinjin: “he looks so done with everything, let him retire.” - “he’s, like, in his early 20s.” - “i’ll pay his pension, just let him retire.” - my friend after seeing one (1) astro play

moonbin: “is that a cat?” - my friend after i showed them a picture of moonbin smiling.

eunwoo: “but he’s wearing make-up, right? that... like that can’t be his real face, right?” - my friend after i showed him a picture of bare-faced eunwoo

sanha: “i think my bias is sanha, he seems like a baby.” - my friend choosing her bias

rocky: “does he need a snickers? please somebody give him a snickers. he looks like he needs a snickers.” - my friend, completely unprompted and for no reason at all

astro as arguably romantic things my friend has said or done

jinjin: asking him to watch that show that you’ve been obsessed with lately or to read the book you’ve read recently and absolutely adored and him telling you that it doesn’t seem like his cup of tea and that he probably won’t read/watch it, just to return a week later having watched all seven seasons of that show or having read all five books in the series nonetheless.

mj: somebody making fun of one of the things you like and taunting you for it and him, somebody who is usually very gentle and happy, just snapping at them and defending you even though it’s completely out of character for him.

moonbin: you noticing that your birthday is the only one that isn’t marked in his calender and asking him why, to which he quickly and absolutely smoothly replies: “i don’t need a reminder for something i can remember on my own” and him actually sending you a “happy birthday” message in the exact moment you wake up.

eunwoo: trying to explain to him how honorifics work in asia and how in most countries you only address someone without an honorific after their name, especially when it’s their first name, when they’re a family member or you’re dating/are married to them, stating: “see, i couldn’t address you without an honorific for example” and him looking at you, completely confused: “i don’t see where the problem is.” to which you reply “ we’re not married.” which is promptly followed by a “we’re not?”

rocky: him hating it when someone ruffles his hair but still letting you do it whenever you have a bad day because it calms you down and he knows it and maybe it’s not so bad after all then.

sanha: somebody cracking a joke in class and him instantly turning around to you, just staring at you for a bit. when the teacher asks him what he’s doing, he replies: “i just wanted to see her reaction.”

astro as drama ideas i had (part 2)

jinjin: the story of a girl who accidentally his the reset button on her life and has to start all over again. (timeskip)

mj: the story of a comic book character who suddenly finds herself turning from a background character to the main character and who’s desperately trying to become a background character again. (background noise)

moonbin: the story of a boy who falls in love with a girl he always sees on the train and the girl who can read thoughts. (next stop: home)

eunwoo: the story of a guy without facial expressions who starts working for the most expressive florist in human history. (winter bear)

rocky: the story of a vet student who saves a wounded gangster who then pledges eternal loyalty to her, which she definitely doesn’t want. (my side character)

sanha: the story of a fbi agent who somehow ends up living with the very person he’s supposed to surveil. (surveillance)

part one

hello! i decided to join the theme contest on the astro amino and wanted to share my designs here, too. i hope you like them!

astro as first dates

eunwoo: he takes you to all of his favorite places and he’s all nervous and fidgety that you won’t like them but you absolutely, undeniably adore all of them. at the end of the day, he takes you to a beautiful beach where he has prepared a picnic with all of your favorite foods. as you watch the sunset together, you can’t help but wonder how you got the most beautiful, kind, and charming man in the world to fall in love with you.

jinjin: he takes you to an art museum and you both go through the exhibition, sometimes pretending to be art experts and “totally knowing what that 15th century painting’s meaning is”, and sometimes just joking about “how you could totally do that better” and “wow that man’s nose in that one painting looks hilarious”. the other people in the museum are totally annoyed by you and the security is probably going to kick you out if you don’t stop giggling any time soon but you really can’t be bothered by that when you’re holding the greatest piece of art’s hand, knowing he’s yours.

moonbin: you plan on watching a movie but you both end up running late and then the movie you wanted to watch together is all sold out, so you end up buying tickets to some movie you’ve never heard of before but it ends up being a foreign movie without subtitles and even if you can’t understand it, you can tell it’s bad. once you’re out of the cinema, you both immediately burst out in laughter and start talking about how bad that movie was and who again thought it would be a good idea to watch that? but maybe it wasn’t so bad after all because his smile is your favorite thing in the world and you wouldn’t trade it for anything.

rocky: he takes you to an escape room and he doesn’t manage to find any clues on how to get out. he’s trying really hard to impress you by finding the way out on his own but he fails completely and you have to get the both of you out in the end. afterwards, he’s worried that you think he’s uncool now because he failed but the fact that he tried so hard to make you happy makes him the coolest person in the world to you.

sanha: he takes you to the zoo but everything that can go wrong does. the tickets for the dolphin show are all sold out once you get there, the section with your favorite animal is currently closed, and a zebra eats the cookie sanha is holding in his hand as you pass by. just when he’s about to die of frustration, you go to the petting farm and you can’t help but think about how cute he is as he excitedly cuddles with and pets the sheep and goats there.

mj: you don’t even know if this legally qualifies as a date but oh well, here you are. he bought a drone and you take turns flying it until he crashes it into a tree and decides it’s time for lunch. he then complains about how hot it is and how he could probably fry an egg on the pavement and when you tell him he probably couldn’t, he takes it as a dare and immediately tries it. and it works and now you have this literal angel of a man stare at you with a huge smile on his face and an asphalt egg in his hand and you want to cry of happiness.

kpop sales pitch 01

There are 12 Olympic gods and Astro has 6 members, so I thought each member would get two gods and a respective storyline. I think this concept would be fun because it would be easy to make it fun and whimsical and dark and emotional at the same time, much like Greek mythology is.

JinJin - Zeus/Hermes

As the leader of the Olympians, JinJin is always stressed out by his job. To blow off some steam, he likes pulling tricks on people and so far no one has suspected that he’s the culprit behind them.

Color scheme: metallic blues, light browns and beiges

Theme: responsibility

MJ - Demeter/Apollo

Has a pretty flower garden that he spends all of his time in. He’s like the old weird lady of the valley but everybody still loves him. They always come to him for advice or just for a cup of tea or hot cocoa.

Color scheme: bright yellows and greens

Theme: change

Moonbin - Poseidon/Ares

Is very competitive when it comes to sports but is also very fair. Likes to help others train. Surprisingly fond of horses.

Color scheme: soft blues and greens, gold

Theme: love

Cha Eunwoo - Hades/Athena

Comes off as gloomy but is actually very gentle and nice. Is a huge bookworm and spends most of his time alone in the library. Attracts black cats a lot.

Color scheme: black, purple, silver

Theme: friendship

Rocky - Artemis/Hephaestus

A bit rough around the edges but overall kind. Spends most of his time in his workshop, building things. Has a fondness for wind-up toys.

Color scheme: rusty reds, silver and gold, purple

Theme: happiness

Sanha - Hera/Aphrodite

Always in love but very serious about it. Has a love for brewing potions and romanticizing the small things in life.

Color scheme: pink, gold, white

Theme: excitement

Each track on the album would focus on a different character and their story and the stories are all tied together by the first and last tracks.
