"Worried, sorceress?", Kea shot back without missing a beat, her eyebrows waggling playfully.

"I... of-of course I was! Van Baelsar is a powerful opponent, 'tis nothing strange to be concerned for a friend facing such an enemy!" Y'shtola exclaimed, crossing her arms with a frown while seemingly trying her best to ignore the heat blossoming across her cheeks.

"Mm-hmm."

...to be fair there'd probably be a fair number of intermissions in the story as the Scions once again find themselves trying to figure out just where exactly their aging Warrior of Light might've wandered off to this time because something has once again diverted her attention away from the plot.

figured Gulool Ja could use a sparring partner his own age and size tbh seeing little Matoya being trusted to hold her own in (lighter) combat likely only further helped cement his desire to learn how to fight himself, too

old kea summer?

thinking how with increasing age, Old Kea kind of comes to exist in some kind of middle-state between being a mortal, an ascian, and a primal - she holds on to her body because it's comfortable to her, but like ascians she's no longer really all that dependent on it, and all the hopes and dreams she and her legend has inspired (and continues to inspire) has become something of a force in its own right - something that not only empowers her but also gives her direction and, in a sense, purpose.

at the same time, I do very much also think that in becoming less mortal, she also becomes less of a regular person, and more of an ideal, a purpose - becoming more an expression of Azem, as in the seat itself rather than any one particular individual who might have held it. Kind of becoming something of an anti-ascian in a sense - at once both like them but also their polar opposite in that she's a force that stands against that which treats smallfolk as expendable, while also remaining somewhat mercurial in that she just wanders from place to place, guided by wherever she feels needed and aiding those in need.
