Kat's Eurovision Discourse S7 E1: Ballad Horror Stories 39 -- 3+2 ft Robert Wells, Butterflies (Belarus) An example of what not to do at Eurovision. I constantly found myself getting distracted while listening to this one. The lyrics and staging are saccharine and the one guy who riffed at the end is the only competent singer out of the five of them. Also, who is Robert Wells? 38 -- Harel Skaat, Milim (Israel) I usually love songs in triple meter, but this? No thanks. The staging was pretty boring, which meant that this song was pretty low in my top even before his infamous voice crack.

Kat's ESC Discourse S6 E1: That One Girl 43 -- Vlatko Ilievski, Rusinka (Macedonia) This song was honestly just kind of messy to me like they just stopped caring you feel?? I mean the choreography was nice but like if the song was about the girl why not have the girl dancer do something different you know and just the song and the vocals and everything felt like there was no effort put into it 42 -- Christos Mylordos, San Aggelos S'aggapisa (Cyprus) Ok it was good until the girl started singing. Weak vocal and unsteady song i can handle, and i thought their leaning choreography was intriguing but i just really hated the song when bondage villain cypriot sanja vučić showed up. like what was the point of even having her there??? i'm confused also what kind of name is Christos Mylordos anyway??? like is that the main dude's name or are they trying to sneak religion into esc

Kat's ESC Discourse S5 E1: I Hate You, They Love You 42 -- Can Bonomo, Love Me Back (Turkey) This song is really a hit or miss song and it was a miss for me. I strongly dislike his tone quality (what the fuck even is his vibrato like) and the whole...man boat???...is just, why??? I would say i don't know how it got so far but then i remember the contest was held in azerbaijan, who are literally so far up Turkey's butthole...need i say more? 41 -- Maya Sar, Korake Ti Znam (Bosnia and Herzegovina) I don't completely /hate/ the song the way i do Turkey's (although i dislike her voice but that's more a personal preference than a stylistic thing), i was just...profoundly bored by it. I remembered it, but it was memorable literally because I was so bored the entire time she was performing.

Kat's ESC Discourse S4 E1: You Made A Mess 39 -- Bonnie Tyler, Believe In Me (United Kingdom) It's a decent enough song, but her vocals make me absolutely cringe. I didn't really notice much about her outfit or staging other than that it wasn't totally horrendous. 38 -- Esma and Lozano, Pred Da Se Razdeni (Macedonia) I have some...opinions on this one. It sounds like two perfectly good songs that were mashed together and turned into something awful. I want to make it clear that i like both parts of the song. I like Lozano's part better, though, and part of me wants to see what would happen if he came back singing a solo song. The thing is, while the songs are good on their own, when you put them together the whole thing falls apart. I also didn't like the staging - keeping the main singers apart for a while, and i especially disliked the way they staged the backing singers.

Kat's ESC Discourse S2 E1: If Those Songs Were Crimes... 40 -- Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, Aina Mun Pitää (Finland) Ok, Finland, it was a cute concept I suppose. You tried. But I just...Finnish punk about not wanting to do the dishes is Not My Thing™. That's all I have to say without dodging into the realm of disastrously impolite. 39 -- Anita Simoncini and Michele Perniola, Chain Of Lights (San Marino) Ah, one of the peace songs. Look, peace songs can be nice when done right (see: Polina), but they can also be disastrous when done wrong. It's a cute song, I guess, but it's structured weirdly, and I don't think I've seen a peace song as a duet before. Anita and Michele also weren't very strong vocalists. Maybe go with someone in their 20s or 30s next year, San Marino, then maybe you'll get a decent result.
