I’m about 100+ sub lines away from finishing BuruRaji so I’m hoping to finish it today or tomorrow but I need a break now (cos it’s a total of almost 900 lines...orz) Anyway, though it’s not directly related to BlazBlue I thought I would put up this post to try explaining to people new to the fandom on Sugita’s gang of friends, that include the often-mentioned Mafia Kajita xD He is mentioned in the BuruRaji episode I’m currently subbing, so I thought I’ll make a post about it since it’s gonna be long...and I don’t yet see a wiki page for Mafia Kajita so hopefully this helps you understand some stuff~
I got my info mostly from Anigera radio, wikipedia and Niconico-info. Anigera is great in understanding Sugita’s complex references, but the radio might be too difficult for people new to Japanese language and culture...I mean, I struggled with the first 10+ episodes because Sugita talks about so many games I’ve never heard of, talks shimonetas too...and has quite a number of guest-friends in the show... (why does he keep saying he has no friends???!! xD) Anyway, I don’t know what other people don’t know so let me know if you are curious about something in Anigera or wherever~
Mafia Kajita (マフィア梶田) - real name Kajita Ryuuki, born 1987
Mafia Kajita is a freelance game writer and has been a radio personality on Sugita’s long-running radio show Anigera Didoooon since 2009. He also hosts Radio 4Gamer radio show with Okamoto Nobuhiko and most recently, he has been hosting Star Raji-Ocean with Nakamura Yuuichi as of Oct 2016.
I can’t remember how Sugita and Kajita met but they’ve known each other for a long time. It was through Sugita that many other seiyuus including Nakamura, Yasumoto, Okamoto, and those in BlazBlue (e.g. Isocchi and Yukana) got to know him and became friends later on. Despite his appearance, he is much younger than he looks, and has a passionate love for anime, games and all that. Due to his unique appearance and connections within the gaming and anime world, many creators and producers have made characters based off him. In the picture above, it shows the latest goods that is created based off his appearance. (P.S. Sugita’s version might come next xD Please listen to the latest Star Raji-Ocean episode for info, though I have no time to sub it...) He has even become a seiyuu, voicing a few minor characters here and there, but his main job is being a game writer. I don’t exactly know what a game writer does, but I’m guessing reviews on games, or gaming info. He has written scenarios for games such as Corpse Party and Sugita’s game Gekkou Gakuen as well.
Due to his ‘mafia-like’ appearance, there were times people thought he used to be a yankee/delinquent and he has even been approached by police officers who thought he is actually from the mafia. The story behind his shaved head is actually pretty unexciting. He simple felt it a pain to keep doing his hair and so decided one day to just shave it all off. He also used to be known as SP Tanaka, his alias, but in Anigera Didoooon #6, Sugita already blurted out his real name, and Kajita himself wasn’t really trying to hide his identity either so in the end the SP Tanaka name just became something of the past xD

Kedouin is an author and designer, most famously known as the creator for the Corpse Party series. He has appeared several times on Anigera officially and unofficially as guests. There are times he appeared unofficially on the radio when there are guests he want to meet xD If I’m not wrong, it was actually Nakamura who first knew about the corpse party series (before it became super famous) and introduced it to Sugita. Since then, both have appeared in the series and Kedouin has also helped Sugita in writing guest scenarios for Gekkou Gakuen. He is an interesting character with a rather skewed fascination/thinking style for certain horror elements, so...I guess that’s why Sugita loves him? xD Also his surname Kedouin is NOT an alias but his real name. Apparently it’s a rather rare surname that is specific to a certain region/group of people in Japan (can’t remember the exact details)
Mori Toshimichi is a game producer, designer, etc most famously for the BlazBlue series. He was also a designer for the Guilty Gear series. He also produced Gekkou Gakuen. He is commonly known as MoriP, or in the BuruRaji episode, he’s known as shamoji, since his ‘mascot’ character is like that of a spoon, though his ‘feature point’ is his sunglasses xD (I don’t know what’s with Sugita’s friends and sunglasses...’)
Other friends:
SP Satou (SP佐藤) - Sugita’s friend. I think he works within the anime/game field too though I can’t remember the specific details...(I’m still not 100% sure of the meaning of SP, but I’m guessing secret police in the funny sense) He hasn’t been appearing as often in Anigera lately but I don’t think it’s because he and Sugita are no longer friends. He appeared in a mini niconico video series called Sugita no Dyukushi (here’s episode 1). In early radio episodes, he’s often called a hentai by Sugita but in later episodes, I feel like he ends up being the tsukkomi xD and often got teased when Sugita and Kajita keeps calling him by his real name Takeshi
Asakura (朝倉) - Sugita’s friend. When he was first introduced in Anigera, he’s supposedly searching for a job. But now he is working, somewhere within the anime/game/manga industry. Wiki says he’s an ero-manga author xD. Also when first introduced, I remembered him being the ‘Pikachu’ guy because while Sugita and Kajita got all excited talking about K-On, Love Plus etc, he’s the only one not really following those trends, but claims he’s a huge Pikachu or Pokemon fan
fan114 - Writer for a magazine series on arcade games. Also involved in Lord of Vermillion game as a supporter (?). Lord of Vermillion is a game Sugita loves and is often mentioned in the early episodes of Anigera, so I guess that’s why they’re friends? Also they played L4D and other games together. He has a cat and those pictures that you saw Sugita and Nakamura playing with a cat lately? That’s his~
