Stopped at a rural gas station with my partner to use the restroom and saw two young girls (like 8-9?) standing outside the single stall men's and women's restrooms.

Me: You guys waiting in line?

Them: Our mom's in there we're just waiting for her.

Oh ok, cool. *sees the men's room door is open* I'll just use this one, then *goes inside and shuts the door*

Folks, the GASP from these two young girls as I went in there was SO FUNNY through the door. I tried so hard not to cackle inside.

Them: WAIT that's the BOYS ONLY ONE?? Was that a boy?? No it was a girl! But could be a boy? Why would they go in there?? *mom comes out* MOM there's a GIRL in the boy's only one!

Mom: Oh? Alright then.

They leave, I come out again and meet my partner at the register who btw has a gorgeous mane of brown and silver curly hair that reaches halfway down his back. I'm a stocky, fairly androgynous, short haired person in flannel.

The girls get in line behind us with their mom and their snacks.

Them: SEE I told you it was a girl! I think.... *sees the back of my partner and its just HAIR* She... or him? Or...uhhh....?

Anyways, we left the gas station, I'm telling my partner the story as we reach the car. We thought it was too funny.

Then we drove to a waterfall and had a good day.
