TIPS for INTENSIVE STUDYING
The amount of studying I am doing only seems to increase by day. There is always something more I can study to prepare myself to the tests and I realised... if I keep studying without a clear structure it is going to result in a studying that’s half hearted or simply I will lose motivation and procrastinate (procrastination: every students greatest enemy). Thus I decided to share some tips I feel work for intensive studying.
Keep hydrated - Drink water. This is definitely something that will rejuvenate your body and mind. Tough it is one of those things I ALWAYS forget doing- actually if anyone have tips on how to not forget to drink water please share!
Know what you are going to study. With this I mean that it is important to be specific. For example if you decide to study for 1 h then decide that you are going to study subject x and within that subject you are going to finish chapter y. Finish whatever you have decided for yourself and if you feel something is too much divide the chapters into sections and do that. whatever way suits you as long as you know that you have a clear view of EXACTLY what you are supposed to finish studying.
Set time and/or deadlines. Keeping the time can be a good way to get in to finishing within a set time- as in tests. Also to decide when to finish some of your studying. I know many in this studyblr community like to use the pomodoro system when studying. However how many times I tried the this system time was too little for me or it was too much. That’s why- don’t be limited to whatever’s out there. Set the time to your needs, try it out several times to fine a time that you can stay fully concentrated without being tired. For me the time is around 35-45 minutes that I can stay fully concentrated. I set the time for whatever time I feel I can achieve that day. It is better to study less more focused than study more unfocused.
KEEP AWAY FROM DISTRACTIONS. This is one of those things that is easy to say but hard to do. For me my biggest distraction is my phone. I don’t even have important things to look at but I find something to do anyways - when important things are waiting to be done. That’s why throw the phone away or whatever it is that distracts you. Your life is more important than spending valuable time on distractions. Right now you have to achieve your dreams by studying and when the intensive period of studying is over you can go back to being distracted again.
Challenge yourself!! Studying often can get boring instead try to challenge your study sessions. See how fast you can do exercises or how well you can do in pressure - it will spice up the study sessions and keep you motivated to improve.
Remind yourself that you are important in all outcomes. Sometimes life comes in the way and studying is hard. But you are important. Even if intensive studying is hard probably more so mentally than physically it is good to remind yourself why you are doing this for who you are doing this and that how cheesy this may sound everything can be changed if you try hard enough. Imagine yourself in your dream - You can achieve it.
This all the tips I had for now. I hope it helps in some way. the important thing is to have self discipline and to keep on going. Keep dreaming and have hope. we have the power to create and lets do that with good results. Keep on studying!
