And refuse to engage in discussions that tear others down. Two things that I have found to be true about gossip: 1.) If they'll gossip WITH you, they'll gossip ABOUT you. Healthy friendship requires trust, and it's hard to trust a gossiper. 2.) Malicious gossip doesn't always speak to the subject's true character, but passing it on speaks to yours.
