The main OEH cast (Kehi, Osho, and Thorn) as RW creatures!
Separate images and rambling under the cut (+more detailed alt text descriptions of the individual critters):
Their respective species were not difficult to choose in the slightest. I was simply thinking of some of the more intelligent social creatures in RW and thought of orange lizards, scavs, and scugs. Coincidentally, all 3 of which fit these guys strikingly well??
Orange lizard - Kehi:
Wait is it yellow lizard or orange lizard I've heard both
Anyway
He's yellow. He's a lizard. He's kind of stupid and brutish. It's literally a perfect fit
I kinda just did whatever when it came to his scars, as Arti's scars are darker than her normal skintone, while Spearmaster's are lighter (I guess that could just be a difference of burn scar vs laceration scar, in which case I made the correct choice by coincidence 👍)
I imagine he would've been part of a pack until he lost a section of his antenna during a squabble with another lizard. Then, he would have trouble tracking them and keeping up, and eventually got lost. Struggling to survive on his own, he would eventually run into Thorn, who would've tamed him. When Osho started following Thorn around Kehi almost ate them several times, but they were eventually able to tame him too
Scavenger - Osho:
Scavengers are anxious, generally neurotic, weird little lanky beasts. All of those words in that order could also be used to describe Osho
Not 100% on this design, I've found that Osho is really difficult to translate into another species. Their actual markings are quite boring, I think what makes their design interesting is that their body is such a bizarre and complicated shape. So, as another species they're just kinda boring, and tend to lose much of what makes them look like them
Also scavs are just really hard to draw lol. They're such a fun shape, but I still have not quite figured out how to draw their heads
Osho was part of a fairly typical, but quite isolated scav community. Being both incredibly curious and incredibly anxious, they would've been driven out of their home quite easily, fleeing both violence and boredom. Living alone is an incredible struggle for a scav though, so I think without any conspecifics around, they would latch onto pretty much any other creature that didn't immediately try to kill them. Enter: Thorn.
Slugcat - Thorn:
Scug isn't as perfect as a fit for Thorn as the other's species are, but I don't think it doesn't fit. Small prey animal that is very cute but surprisingly vicious, and capable of holding their own against far larger creatures. Thorn herself isn't particularly violent, but she is a biter
Also not 100% on this design? I do like it, but I sometimes have trouble balancing the simplicity of RW's designs and the complexity of my own. That and I still have no idea how to interpret scugs with white eyes lol
Thorn was part of a fairly loose scug colony, often leaving for long periods of time to explore or find food. Eventually they just didn't come back. Whether this was intentional or because they got lost is up for debate. They were fine living alone for a while, but then came along Kehi. Thorn hadn't meant to tame him, they'd just seen him alone and starving a few too many cycles in a row and felt bad, so threw him a bit of food. They were somewhat alarmed when he started following them around, but adapted to it quickly enough. They didn't really know what to make of the scav that started following them too, but eventually showed them how to tame Kehi out of pity for the poor nervous creature
I have not yet decided if their tail acts like a yellow lizard's antennae or not
