My last submission to you (at least for now) and truly and definitely my last piece of RWBY fanart. I mean, yes, it’s RWBY/VLD crossover, but still!
And it is a beautiful crossover fanart because RWBY and VLD deserve more crossover stuff!!! I remember this in the Discord chat and it being fucking hilarious (damn Merc, ya’ got dem legs)!
Katsucon day 0-1 I did a lot lol.

Tail
(A/N: Quinn Kogane belongs to @carlottastudios, I do not own the sweet little bean)
*Yorha sat on a park bench by her lonesome waiting for her friends, eating a granola bar to pass time. Midst her chewing she felt a tiny presence behind her, turning around yielded her the sight of a little girl with pointed ears, Galran markings, and similar hair much like herself and her father*
Yorha: Hey down there! Something caught your eye?
*The girl looked away, twiddling her fingers out of embarrassment. In a quiet voice she said*
“You...have a tail.”
*And Yorha did indeed, have a tail. Apparently the genes on her father’s side skipped a generation from his mother to Yorha, giving the teen a long, thin tail.*
Yorha: Ha! Yep I do! And hey, come sit with me, don’t be shy!
*The girl’s eyes lit up, without thinking she jogged around the bench and plopped herself next to the older Galran teen. Yorha, being polite, scooched over to let her on*
Yorha: Oh, I didn’t get you name. I’m Yorha, by the way!
“I’m Quinn Kogane, nice to meet you!”
Yorha: !!!
*That confirmed Yorha’s suspicions, Quinn was the daughter of Keith. But, Yorha was an only child, her dad couldn’t have had another kid and NOT tell her about it! Unless Quinn wasn’t Yorha’s version of Keith’s kid...?*
“HEY YORHA!!! WE’RE BACK WITH SNACKS!”
*Off in the distance to the entrance of the park, Yorha’s friend Heron Shirogane came running up to meet her*
Heron: Hey, who’s your little friend?
Yorha: This is Quinn, she’s uh...not from around here!
Heron: I see, she a Galra?
Quinn: .....half-Galra.
Heron: That’s cool, I’m half-Altean! Name’s Heron, pleasure to make your acquaintance. *offers his hand to shake*
*Quinn goes to return the gesture, until a scuffle could be heard at the entrance yet again, a young boy with glasses and a green sweat-jacket bolted into the park, practically tripping on the way in*
Yorha/Heron: Zak?
Zak: Guys! *pant* Ya’ gotta hide me, I just stole Vivi’s s’mores bites and she’ss gonna kick my a-
Yorha, covering Quinn’s ears: ZAK! Langauge!
Zak: Oh, sorry. Wait, who’s the kid-
Vivi: ZAK MCCLAIN! I’M GOING TO TURN YOU INTO RUBBLE!!! *rounds corner of the park, but stops when she sees her friends gathered around a small kid*
Vivi: *Sharp gasp* BA-
Heron: Vivi...
Vivi: BA-
Zak: Vivi no!
Vivi: BA-
Yorha: Oh crap.
Vivi: BABYYYYYYY!!! *beelines for Quinn, flying past Zak and Heron snatching her off the bench* OHMYGOSHYOU’RESOCUTEICOULDJUSTEATYOUUPYOUADORABLEPRECIOUSBABY!!!!!
Quinn, shaken up but returning the hug: Nice to meet you too Miss Vivi!
Zak: And now she won’t let her down for the rest of day.
Yorha: And who’s fault is that?
Zak: Screw you...
Heron: Quinn, where are your parents by the way?
Quinn: Oh, uh, that way! *she pointed to the trees behind the bench* I was having a picnic with my momma and papa!
Vivi: *gasps* And you wondered off by yourself?! Do you know how dangerous that is young lady!
Quinn: Don’t worry, Kosmo went with me! *as if on cue, the blue, alien wolf appeared from thin air in front of the teens* There he is!
Yohra: Buddy...? *she reached to pet her canine friend, only for him to slightly shrink away. For a second, he did feel a familiarity to her appearance, sniffing her hand and leaning into her touch. She mumbled under her breath* I was right...
Quinn: What’sa matter boy, time for us to go?
Kosmo: *Ruff!*
Quinn: Awwww man, okay.
Vivi: Must you go so soon?
Heron: Don’t worry Vivi, maybe we’ll see her again.
Zak: Can’t keep her parents waiting!
Yorha: It was nice meeting you, Quinn!
Quinn: Bye-bye everyone! *climbs up Kosmo* Yip-yip!
*As quickly as he came, Kosmo vanished into a flash of light, taking the little Galran girl back to her family, leaving the four teens smiling*
Everyone: .......
Yorha: She was from another dimension.
Heron: Yup.
Vivi: And we basically met a different universe’s child of Keith.
Yorha: Uh-huh.
Zak: Technically makin’ you a dimensional sibling Yorha.
Yorha: Seems like it.
*A pause grew over the group...*
Everyone: BEST. DAY. EVER!

How did Nonō and the orphans first become acquainted with Aina? Did Keiri and Kanpu get to know her personally too?
Oh, that’s a cute story!
So Aina became acquainted with Nono, Keiri, and Kanpu through Kabuto in her late teens. Her mother, Airi, had broken her ankle (during one of their secret training sessions). It was at the open-air market where Aina sold their goods that she got to talking with Kabuto, who was more immediately out to get groceries but was also thinking of ways to help the orphanage raise money. She discovered through their conversation that he was capable of medical ninjutsu and asked him to heal Airi in exchange for payment. Kabuto agreed. By the time he was done working his magic, it was like Airi’s ankle had never broken!
They rewarded him with lunch and a free basket of produce. Airi was more standoffish about the gesture, but it was nothing personal. This was just how she was with people outside her family. She really was grateful to be able to get back on her feet.
Meanwhile, Aina got the idea to go to Hiruzen to request money be paid to Kabuto, since he was technically a ninja and all ninjas answer to the Hokage. At the time, she didn’t understand how the ninja mission assignment system in the village worked. She had erroneously assumed Hiruzen would pay Kabuto when actually the responsibility was hers. She had also, in her excitement, promised Kabuto he would get one million ryo. Although everyone, especially Airi, tried to tell her she didn’t actually have to pay him that much--even if this was a formal mission, it would have been treated as a D-ranking one, worth 5,000 ryo, at best--Aina insisted on raising that million for him and the orphanage, anyway. When she makes a promise, she must keep it (which is why she becomes increasingly reluctant to make them, especially in later years).
So Aina set up a little donation box on her counter to collect spare change from patrons, asked Teuchi to set up a box at his ramen stand, and started taking on many odd jobs for that very purpose. 200 installments of 5000 ryo, over the course of 27 months. At one point, she ended up becoming direct competition with the Hokage because she would complete local assignments normally assigned to genin as D-rank missions for less than what the office was charging. This prompted Hiruzen to see her to negotiate a compromise.
She hand-delivered each payment to the orphanage herself, and it was through these visits that she became friendlier with the children and staff. Keiri and Kanpu would be put off by her habits, meddling, and intensity, but they nevertheless recognized her as a well-meaning person who did a lot for them. Nono was the most accepting of the three.
As critical as she was of the arrangement, Airi tolerated it as long as it didn’t keep Aina away from her own essential tasks or drain money from their own funds or savings--they had to get by too, after all. She may have also allowed it because it encouraged Aina to regain her confidence and comfort with moving independently, since she’d lost it after being arrested at Ichiraku Ramen for battering a hostile customer not too long ago.
(And, under all that, it provided more opportunities to hone her own skills.)
Still, being her mother, Airi warned the three never to exploit Aina’s generosity or ask for more than she offered voluntarily.
On the day she came by with the final payment, Kabuto was gone. No one would tell her what happened except that he’d been sent away on a mission. Urushi was especially heartbroken by his adoptive brother’s absence.
Nono would disappear soon after, never to return. Of course, the loss of them both crushed Aina as much as it did anyone else. Despite these tragedies, however, her relationship with the orphanage would continue to grow. She’d keep supporting them in every way she could. She’d ask the kids to come by her farm to help her and Airi out with chores, hoping to teach them important life skills and give them a place to call home for a while. She’d even let the kids sleep over at her house (with supervision, of course!) whenever she had to go out of town and needed someone to look after things, such as after Airi died.
As you know, Aina would reunite with Kabuto after joining Oto, though their relationship from then on becomes much more fraught. After leaving Oto, and before leaving Konoha for the second time, she’d officially give her farm and house to the orphanage so they’d be able to support themselves without relying so much on the goodwill of government. Besides, she wouldn’t need them anymore, where she was going.
In the New Era, Aina reconciles with Kabuto and visits now and then to teach the kids life skills, like how to make it in the outdoors, just like her father did for her. The picture they take of her to put up in her kitchen–well, their kitchen, now, expanded and renovated, about which she has extremely mixed feelings–is the only known picture of her to exist.
