hello! i've noticed that traction on the petition has significantly slowed and was wondering if the mods have any plans to try to boost it in order to get the steam rolling again (assuming this tumblr is affiliated with the petition; if not, that's my bad!!). it feels like the silence from dreamworks is just an attempt to wait until we get tired so they can carry on like they don't have a lot of upset, confused fans to answer to.

Sorry if this was sent sooner, we haven’t really been paying attention to the tumblr and focused on our Twitter more often.

We did not start the petition, we just want to promote it as much as we can, and as of right now it seems to have made it to 20,000 signatures, and we’ll continue to promote it to reach any and all milestones we can

hope it's okay if i add onto this--i think the vld crew made the cast racially diverse/largely not japanese, apart from shiro, because previous american iterations of voltron changed all of the characters to be white (ie shiro became sven, akira became keith, isamu became lance, hiroshi became pidge, tsuyoshi became hunk). but yeah, people racebending asian characters for not being "poc enough" is a problem in fandoms like snk and sailor moon, too

this is true... it’s def mostly the whole “racebending asian characters for not being ‘poc enough’” part that really makes some of us uncomfortable :/

What is your source of info/proof for this claim?...

the line on the website and 5 teens thing in general is overshadowed by the multiple creators’ confirmation at SDCC. it’s literally a catchy tagline (4 unsuspecting teenagers and one adult? lol) by dreamworks. it’s not written into the comics, it’s a descriptor made to market to its target audience. in the SDCC video the people who actually write/create agree that shiro is an adult and the other paladins are not. and in the video we see that that’s not even the first time they reveal that information—it’s only the first time on camera.

and for the garrison question, that’s why i put it on the list of sources that does not confirm ages. it does nothing for ages, because being a student doesn’t inherently confirm any age. there’s also the implication that the garrison has a principal (S1E1), which i also didn’t include because it doesn’t confirm anything. And it’s not the same as the age question at SDCC because 1) the fan in the video was a she/ith shipper and 2) there’s no way around the statements of “adult and not adult” or the age ranges. You could say the fan’s questions were biased if you want but when asked if Shiro is an adult and the others are not, they simply confirmed it. and again you can’t say they were ambushed by a biased question because they told the fan the same information the day before.

again the garrison thing is under sources that don’t confirm anything, and if you read the sources for that point you’d know the question doesn’t confirm anything.

I literally said you didn’t have to trust that bullet point, I included it because Tim was involved in the conversation, and that tweet is why Tim stepped in in the first place. He saw his mutual being harassed by shippers. As for the Jeremy Shada podcast...lol. why are you putting that on antis. it’s the voltron fandom in general, specifically kl/ance shippers. obviously kl/ance isn’t #confirmed canon, it’s harmless for kl/ance shippers to be excited about his commentary. and it has nothing to do with the ages, which is what this post is about. besides, i said LetsVoltron is not a source on anything canon. as in the two fans running it. if they get information from staff members during interviews, that’s information from staff.

Also don’t know why you’re bringing up the “be kind” line when Tim said that because shippers were sending death threats to his mutual. It goes both ways. This post isn’t even about that anyway, and nothing in this post is harassing anyone or being rude to anyone. that last paragraph is completely irrelevant.
