OMOTOBER Day 29: Bad Ending
(TW: Impied gore, s**c*de, guittripping(?))
The rooftop panels gleamed with sunlight as Sunny made his way there. "I-I've changed my mind! I don't want to do this," he pleaded internally. Omori would have none of it. "That's a lie. You know they won't forgive a monster like you. If you desire escapism so badly, then why didn't you do this earlier? Cowardice, perhaps? So pathetic." The balcony had been reached as Sunny took a deep breath. He tried to step back, but Omori wouldn't let him. "Ah, ah, ah," he scolded, "that's not why we're here. Now..."
Sunny tried to maintain his balance, but ultimately ended up falling down. His acrophobia rebounded back as he cried from the fear. His eyes shut, not wanting to look down, before his head cracked against the asphalt like an egg, the blood and brain matter that made up the figurative yolk seeping out of the wound rapidly. Now, Sunny would have to say goodnight to this life forever.
Hours passed by... nobody came to identify the mess. Hero desperately barged back into Basil's room with urgency. "Guys, something's wrong! Sunny's not in his room!" "W-W-What? B-But, h-he promised me we would-" Basil tried to stammer out before getting interuppted by Aubrey, "Listen, you can talk about that when we return, but right now, we need to find Sunny." "Aubrey's right," Kel chimed in. "Sunny's been there for all of us these past few days, so we should return the favor!" Aubrey helped Basil into his wheelchair as the four departed Basil's room. They tried every room on the floors above and below to no avail. Panicked, they decided to look outside. And that's when they saw him... his corpse, lying cold on the ground, bleeding profusely from the head. Aubrey was stunned silent while Basil immediately broke down. "I-It's okay guys," Kel attempted to reassure them, "h-he'll get up any second now, r-right Hero?" He looked to his brother for reassurance but was greeted with a look of despair. "Kel... there's nothing we can do now." "Wh-Wh-Whaddya mean H-Hero? Of course we can help him still. H-He's alive, r-right? Sunny wouldn't do such a thing, r-right?!" When he turned back to check on him, Hero was on the phone with Sunny's mother, walking away from everyone to discuss this matter privately. "N-No... S-Sunny, please. Get up! W-Wake up! P-Please! S-Sunny! Sunny?" Aubrey turned the body around with her bat, too disgusted to touch it, and revealed the dead look in his eyes. Kel couldn't belive what he was seeing. One of his closest friends, whom he had just hung out with over the past few days, was now lying dead in front of him. He tried to hold back his anguish, but couldn't help himself as the tears began to rapidly break through.
Kel bawled profusely over Sunny's body before he ran over to Aubrey, shaking her. "Why would Sunny do this Aubrey?! I don't understand! I-I thought he was truly happy around us! I-Is this how he truly felt inside!? I don't understand what's going o-ho-hoooooon!" He continued lying on the concrete, sobbing his poor heart out, as Basil said, "I-Its my fault... isn't it? W-Was I that much of a burden?" Aubrey clenched her nail bat, attempting to bury her anger, but instead, what came out was her anguish and despair. "Basil... don't say something so god damn STUPID!" Basil wheeled backwards, afraid Aubrey would attack him again, but she put away her bat. "I-I'm not gonna attack you Basil... I... I just... I'm just as confused as Kel and want Sunny to be alive as much as all of us do... but I... I..." Now, Aubrey collapsed to her knees and pounded her fist on the concrete as tears poured down her face like a waterfall. "Why?! Why am I so useless when it comes to saving others?! All I wanted was to help Basil and people called me a bully! And now, when I try to help Sunny, fate snatches him away too! Its bullshit, Basil! Its the biggest bullshit!" She began dryheaving into her jacket as her and Kel's bawling drove into Basil's head, rattling around like balls in a pachinko machine, as he felt another SOMETHING develop behind him. "Its just an endless cycle, i-isn't it," he thought, sadly, as a black silhouette of Sunny manifested behind him, his second SOMETHING as the confession wouldn't happen until much later now, when everyone was more calm. He then sat in his wheelchair and cried alongside Aubrey and Kel.
