Are you still accepting prompts? I would love you forever for some Jily Fluff (angsty fluff would be even more wonderful).
Something short I came up with. Was going to originally answer this along with another prompt, but you wanted more angst and the anon wanted more sweet fluff. Here you go. Thanks so much for the prompt, I appreciate it.
They went to bed angry- angry at each other, at the world, and at this bloody war. Lily once promised herself she would never go to bed angry, but her aching bones and tired eyes protested with her until sleep was upon both of them.
When she awoke, James was not beside her, ready to hug her tightly and apologize. She feels the slightest sting in her eyes, but she can’t cry now. Lily’s stomach reminds her that food would be nice right now, and she could use some tea to sooth her throat.
Putting on her robe and slippers, Lily quickly checks her appearance in the mirror. Her dark, red hair that was once in a tight bun sits as a tangled jungle on her head. Sighing once, she descends the stairs.
The smell of sweet, maple syrup rushes to her nose. Lily sniffs again, and picks up on bacon as well. As she rounds the corner, a small smile is etched onto her lips.
“Good morning, Lils,” James says, his back turned to her. He’s wearing a white apron and his pajamas- an amusing sight. James turns around and offers her a crooked grin and he holds out a plate of fluffy, golden waffles topped with syrup and strawberries. He clears his throat, “I’m sorry about last night. I was angry, but not at you. It was wrong for me to yell at you. I’m sorry?”
Lily shakes her head in disbelief. “You are crazy, James Potter,” she chuckles. His smile immediately drops.
“I made your favorite, waffles with strawberries. There’s bacon cooking right now! Please let me show you how sorry-”
She doesn’t let him finish. Lily grabs the plate from him, places in on the table behind her and brings James into a tight hug. Her head presses into his chest, and for a moment everything seems perfect. The warmth spreading through her bones was well needed, but she was also starving. “Let’s eat then, yeah?”
