What are some of your favorite paranormal documentaries? I’d love to get into some.
Hii!!
So I've always been a huge fan of those campy docu-series that used to be on the Travel channel in the US and, i think, Canada (or still are, I don't have access to it anymore, but a bunch of the shows are streaming now). I'm definitely drawn more to re-enactment/re-tellings than investigative shows, but some of those are fun, too!
Some of my fave retellings:
A Haunting 2005-2022 Victims tell their terrifying encounters with the paranormal.
My Haunted House 2013-2016 The shocking eyewitness accounts of terrified people whose dream homes have become nightmares are brought to life in vivid, blood-curdling style.
My Ghost Story 2010-2013 Frightening insight, through first hand experiences, with the paranormal. These stories prove that ghosts are omnipresent.
Paranormal Survivor 2015-present Real people share the terrifying and supernatural stories of their experience.
Scariest Night of My Life 2017-present Victims of paranormal mayhem share their stories.
Paranormal Witness 2011-2016 A true horror documentary series which brings to life the stories of people who have lived through paranormal experiences that defy explanation.
The Haunted 2009-2011 Chronicles true, chilling and terrifying stories of animals and their owners who are experiencing the unexplainable.
Haunted Hospitals 2018-present Medical staff and patients recount their chilling encounters with paranormal activity inside hospitals, nursing homes, morgues and medical institutions.
Paranormal 911 2019-present This first-person, drama/documentary presents terrifying true tales of such encounters. Terror in the Woods (I find this one the most entertaining) 2017-present Features real stories of people who embarked on a wilderness adventure only to be scared out of the woods by unexplained phenomena.
Investigative Shows:
Destination Fear (I get a total kick out of this one) 2019-2023 Documentary filmmaker Dakota Laden, his sister, Chelsea, and his best friend, Tanner Wiseman, travel across the country in an RV to spend nights in haunted locations.
The Dead Files (I like this one because one of the two investigators in a retired NYPD Detective who does not believe in the paranormal) 2011-2023 A homicide detective and a medium combine their sixth senses to investigate haunted locations.
Ghost Brothers (While a serious show, these guys, considered the first official Black paranormal investigative group, are hilarious) 2016-2017 Three best friends take a passionate hobby to the next level in some of the country's most haunted locations.
Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural (this is far from serious, but Ryan and Shane are so funny) 2016-2021 Supernatural enthusiast Ryan brings his skeptic friend Shane on investigations of notorious supernatural folklore in an effort to make him a believer as well.
Paranormal State (kind of a half-hearted rec. this show was fun, but if you want some tasty tea, check out the lore behind the host of the show, Ryan Buell) 2007-2012 Follows members of the famous Penn State Paranormal Research Society as they investigate strange and unusual phenomena across the country.
If you watch any, I hope you have fun!
