like it reiterates the fact that they're both supposed to be the sons of exy, kevin is worth nothing more than a raven, having to earn his place on the court like everyone else (even though he really didn't (re: thea's initial opinion of kevin), but i'm sure this would have been his carrot on a stick) and he should be grateful his mother died to let kevin come to the nest. god. kevriko.

32. What would it take for Kevin to retire?

honestly. i dont know. definitely a lot and he'll eventually have to retire yes but the way I see it playing out is he starts showing signs of chronic pain (results of the intensive raven training and. yk him dedicating his entire life to it) and at first he just ignores it and believes he needs to train harder. doesnt help that he's around thea who's also been groomed into the same raven mindset and believes that as long as you can walk you should play (though i can see this changing post canon it would take a LOT OF WORK TO CHANGE IT hm. i wonder. will make a separate post about this) but yeah so hes beating himself up on court, his decline in his performance isnt noticable at first but yk what is? him taking more painkillers. thea confronts him about it, asking him to take a season off to recover. kevin obv doesnt agree and says that hes managing the pain fine, hes going to physical therapy, etc etc so he should continue playing. thea in vain goes to probably the only person kevin would even care to listen to about this: wymack. wymack realises whats going on (given his own experience with chronic pain) and then they sit and have a chat and kevin realises. oh. this isn't going to go away. i need to stop playing.

yeah that was a bit long but tldr; thea & wymack (maybe abby too) essentially force him to see why he needs to retire

i am always brewing with thoughts about kevin and riko. (hey maybe the funeral is where you get your kevichi happening <3) but yeah i just KNOW kevriko made a death pact sort of thing, something along the lines of they will become world champions before they die together and obv they were pretty young when they did so but kevin realising that he did in fact break his promise to riko is something id love to see.

also kevin being in the same circles that he once shared with riko, but now feeling partially responsible for the reason for riko's death? oh my god. can you imagine his state of mind. can you imagine just how treacherous he must feel to the people he believes brought him to where he is (in a way) the things i would do to see the crashout kevin went through post tkm. the things i would do....

oh absolutely. i see them being decently amicable down the line, at least being civil through jeremy. its obv they both care about each other a lot but ykyk lots of history and tension between them which is the only possible hurdle i see but if jeremy's in the equation i think yes jean would attend kevin's wedding but they definitely won't talk much. or at all post canon. what's left to say?
