Kenchō-ji (建長寺) in Kamakura ranks first among Kamakura's so-called Five Great Zen Temples and is the oldest Zen training monastery in Japan [x]. Incidentally, a frog sculpture is often placed at temples because frog (kaeru 蛙) has the same pronunciation as the word for return (kaeru 帰る).
