Small part of the orchid room at Longwood Gardens, with view of Mediterranean room through glass doors. There is *always* a volunteer in this room, presumably to answer visitors’ burning questions about orchids. But volunteer presence might also be gentle way to deter theft of pseudobulbs from rare or expensive orchids. Some varieties can sell for $200,000 each, so there might be a market for such things. Just a hunch.
