Kenpachi actually liked Nnoitra.

He liked the way this Arrancar fought and his toughness.

Kenpachi laughed and looked genuinely excited about their fight. And he liked to be surprised by Nnoitra's abilities.

Initially, Zaraki didn't even want to kill him, perhaps hoping to face Nnoitra in the future when he would become even stronger. But Nnoitra couldn't pass up the opportunity he had longed for.

Unlike Nelliel, Kenpachi granted his wish
