Conservative MP Kerry Diotte dismisses calls to end police violence as an “orchestrated campaign”
Conservative MP Kerry Diotte wants everyone to “take a deep breath” and “get over” the death of George Floyd before taking action to end police brutality.
Speaking to Edmonton City Council this week, Diotte sparked criticism after he told a special meeting on racism and police violence that the public is too “emotional” about police violence to consider “drastic changes to the way we do policing.”
Mr. Mohamed addressed Mr. Diotte directly in one of his tweets yesterday afternoon: “I am disappointed that you would choose the legal route rather than addressing your own tweets,” he said. “Nevertheless, I am ready to walk this path with you. You know how to get in touch with my lawyer.”
Edmonton Griesbach MP Kerry Diotte has threatened a young writer and former constituent with a defamation lawsuit for tweeting critical comments about his appearance in photos with Faith Goldy, an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of Toronto who is widely viewed as a white nationalist.
Bashir Mohamed, 23, who has written for the Globe and Mail and blogs at BashirMohamed.com, posted copies of the letter from Mr. Diotte’s lawyer and his lawyer’s response on Twitter Thursday.
The Nov. 5 letter from Arthur Hamilton, a prominent lawyer long associated with the Conservative Party of Canada, calls statements made on Twitter by Mr. Mohamed “inflammatory and untrue” and says “Mr. Diotte requires an immediate retraction of this tweet, and any similar statements which you have published or broadcast.”
“In the absence of your immediate action to remedy this circumstance, and effect a full retraction on or before 5:00 p.m. MST, Wednesday November 7, 2018, Mr. Diotte will initiate proceedings without notice to you.”
“Govern yourself accordingly,” the letter concluded.
Three other young people from Edmonton who retweeted or commented on Mr. Mohamed’s original tweet have reported receiving similar letters from Mr. Diotte’s legal counsel, Mr. Mohamed said.
Almost two weeks after threatening legal action against some Twitter users, Edmonton MP Kerry Diotte is suing a student newspaper for calling him racist.
The Gateway at the University of Alberta published a news story and editorial online earlier this month that criticized Diotte for supporting white nationalist Faith Goldy. Diotte claims the articles made "unfounded and defamatory comments" and he is seeking $150,000 in damages through the defamation lawsuit. If he wins, Diotte said he will donate the money to an Edmonton charity.

I have little to say about the lists other than the fact it would seem Bill Winters, donor of $3501-$5000 seems to have his hands in both cookie jars, donating to both campaigns. Who is this Gatsby-esque benefactor of municipal politics? A google search yielded Bill Winters, a Windsor Ontario CKLW dj who died in 1975.

Despite the window being closed on the cold September evening, a chill goes down Don Iveson’s spine. The candle that lights the room flickers gravely, then extinguishes.
But what of fiscal watchdog, monetary hawk, economic ocelot, currency plankton Kerry Diotte? Who are his donors? Responding to that very question on twitter Mr. Diotte had this to say:

Others are doing publicity stunt indeed, like when Karen Leibovici beat Deep Blue in a game of chess while doing 546 one armed pushups in ten minutes, or when Don Iveson challenged Athena to a weaving contest and, after winning, had his work shredded and was turned into a spider. Kerry Diotte is playing by the rules, but one can’t help but speculate. It is the opening moves of official election season and it seems releasing such information would do little harm. Let the three sided trifecta blade of possibility stab in you a hole of unhealable curiosity.
1) He feels jilted by the fact that the fiscal apparition Bill Winters did not visit his campaign coffers
2) He has zero donors
3) He has one donor: the Illuminati
What secrets does that age’d parchment, jealously guarded by Edmonton’s fiscal watchdog, hold?

The first to throw his proverbial hat into the burning ring was Kerry Diotte. It was a move that shocked neither man, woman, child, beast, or flora. Mr. Diotte is a relative newcomer to the glitzy political superplanet of City Hall. Having only, at the time of writing, served most of one term after being elected in October of 2010.
In his previous life Kerry was an award winning journalist, who'd worked with the likes of CBC-TV, The Calgary Sun, Maclean’s, The National, and yes, even The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulobouloumpoulius. Most recently D-Bomb was working at the Edmonton Sun. He worked there for 25 years and like all hard working honkies he started at the lowest rung of the ladder:

Sadly, the Cinderalla story came to an end when a disagreement with his boss resulted in Scary Kerry suing the Edmonton Sun for 2.28M dollars.

Now for some fun personal facts: Big D is an avid tweeter. In fact, his love of all things social media got him in trouble with His Excellency Stephen Mandel, who, upon hearing of Special K’s recently announced candidacy commented “he comes to meetings and tweets the whole time. He doesn’t pay attention to what’s going on.” Is Stephen “not Nelson” Mandel(a) right? Or is he afraid the whole glass menagerie is crashing down, and in the end days the brilliant angel K-Money will be raining infrastructure upon us like a heavy rain while Stevie is waiting at home with pleurosis?
