Woah look at me. Fixing shit. Wow

I finally decided to mend this backpack that’s been sitting around for two years begging for mercy. I used an old pair of jeans to replace the straps, the foam inserts from the previous straps for padding, and a mix of machine and hand sewing to hold it together! I still need to tack the foam inserts down more securely, so I might do a little simple hand embroidery or sashiko or something, especially around the ladder clasps.

This is the before situation: the bag itself was fine but the straps were absolutely useless, barely hanging on. Plus a cosmetic issue in the laptop holder.

And here’s the after! Visibly clumsy, and I left more of the previous strap than I probably should have, but it’s nice and sturdy and it’s functional! I used a whole skein (?) of embroidery thread for this and ran out of bobbin thread twice but ya know… Worth it for real

(Side note I’m impressed my sewing machine could handle 4 layers of denim without a needle breaking…. A trooper fr)

I’m very proud of my work! May it last for years to come (and if it doesn’t, may I be able to repair it again and again!)

Oh also bonus ID pouch for my keychain, made using some really small scraps that weren’t worth saving otherwise.

Machine sewn but clumsy :(. But it’s been YEARS since I last touched a sewing machine so I’m proud! Hand sewed the button on- it’s an antique mother of pearl button I found in my button bag of doom :)

Art dump four!! Getting away from the mandalas now, now onto OCs of mine (a few are split custody OCs or just plain fanart tho)

In order:

1. this is an OC AU of my guy Static, where four of my OCs are mermen. Static (this one) is a deep-sea bioluminescent octopus, chosen because octopi are intelligent compared to most other animals on earth. I’m proudest of this one bc it was a pet project for a few months, and I let myself go all out in terms of shading and hair and detail!! Put 60 hours total into it before I felt I was done. I didn’t draw the background though, that’s just a stock photo I put a few layers over. Credit to @nitroish who helped me figure out how his legs (?) should lay and rest! (He is fully an OC here, I’ve split him off from his original inspo, Mind from Chonny Jash.)

2. A shared OC of mine named Petrichor! A combination of my guy Static and a friend of mine (Q-ott on Discord)’s guy Storm. I didn’t go as all out on him just bc I got art block halfway through, but I used a new sketching brush on him! Thank you to @squeak-4657 for helping me, they gave me a sketch to help me get past my art block that I just lined and colored. (He is not divorced from his inspo, both he and Storm here are still tied to Mind. Petrichor is a 2/3, something akin to a Steven universe fusion, but I believe @disruptivevoib did it first in our circle!)

3. A collab of Again my guy Static, this time a Stardew AU, and my friend Foxy’s (Foxy0709 on discord) characters Odarian, plus their junimos Min, Hep, and Sol! Odarian’s inspired by CJ’s Whole, with the junimos as his thirds. Foxy sent me a traditional sketch that I imported into my art program and colored!! I couldn’t figure out how to do the background so those are just stock images but it looks a little strange :( probably bc I just did flat colors, again bc of art block

4. A meme redraw of Clunk, a little goober Chonny and @artofdansan created!! Dansan’s doing Clunktober rn, if you want to see more of the goofy lil guy!!!! I love him sm you have no idea

5. A redraw of an old art I had done as a reference for Static. Under the cut I’ll have the original I did for an artfight ref/icon, this is the only non-simple character I haven’t used a sketch reference first and I’m happy with my progress even if my art on my own still isn’t perfect. Drew him while I was in the hospital the other day! He’s still inspired by CJ but I’m using this art as a pfp first a tupper that’s divorcing him more from his original intended concept.

If you look closely I gave them some motifs that match, particularly the corner designs for Kairos and Ichor :)

I found some old art from right after the album drop! Just some old Trident doodles but I’m still proud of them.

Fully colored, gray/silver metal with gold metallic accents, red diamond shaped stones, and a matte black and matte white prong, respectively. At the time I headcanoned the Trident could shrink into a pin/brooch! Still do headcanon that.
