I have to be honest. I just meal planned for next week and there isn’t much exciting going on there. I am on a tight budget for the grocery (personal goal of mine) and I am going for simple.
Any questions about keto or foods or anything like that please feel free to ask!
One of the biggest questions lately is “Can I eat ____ or what about ____” I have realized that a lot of people don’t think about what they put in their mouths (me included) so we have no education on food. We just put things in our mouth that taste good and is easy.
There is an entire profession out there dedicated to nutrition. However, it doesn’t have to be hard. Educate yourself on the food that you are putting in your body. You will be very surprised.
Some people think “Well if it is healthy it must be keto” or “I eat low carb so I am keto”
I like to say a few things about what I have learned on this journey and the pearls of wisdom I have picked up form people like Dr. Adam Nally and Jimmy Moore.
1) When it comes to veggie. If it grows above ground you are good. This doesn’t mean it is carb FREE. But it means it is on the lower side of the CARBS. If you can find a veggie that is CARB free let me know! I know Spinach and Kale are close!
2) Keto is NOT just eating meat and veggies. Where is the fat?!?!? I ask people this on a daily almost. Keto is a high FAT, moderate protein and low carb lifestyle. If you want the max benefit of Keto, things like mental clarity, increased energy and being a fat burning machine, you have to commit and get your fat intake up. This doesn’t mean go eat a Big Mac. Know your fats.
3) Don’t make it complicated. Don’t get overwhelmed. Start off easy. Add a healthy fat to each meal and cut out the carbs in 1 meal and work your way into it. But expect results to take longer. I am the rip the band ad off kind of person so I jumped into the deep end but you don’t have to do it that way.
4) Don’t blame Keto for your issues. The majority of the time (not all the time) it is what you are consuming. Not the keto diet itself. If you are consuming too much protein, not enough fat, not getting your carbs around 30g a day, it is YOU not the diet.
Stay focused and keep up the hard work. Trust me.... It is worth it. I have well exceeded my weight loss goal and have no plans on stopping keto. It is the new me!
