Yesterday I completed Strong Curves Week 8, so today is an active rest day! Mostly because I’m still waiting for a barbell pad to come in the mail (options for barbell padding at my gym are somewhat dismal) so I can do hip thrusts without bruising the crap out of my hips.
Getting back into strength training coupled with keto has done wonders for my self esteem, although I regularly miss the boost of energy carbs bring. I also watched folks scarf some serious cheesesteaks yesterday, so the carb-envy is going strong in general.
To tide me over, I’ve been eating lots of my favorite snacks such as:
Walnuts, ham, and a drizzle of honey, rolled up in baby swiss cheese. That’s about 150kcal and 1g - 2g carbs. Make it even fewer by switching the honey for spicy Japanese mayo, regular mayo, mustard of any kind, etc.
I’m hoping we’ll get in a good hike this evening, and that tomorrow I can destroy Week 9 Day 1 of Strong Curves! I’m so psyched to get more barbell work in -- real squats, real deadlifts! I’m going to continue to try to visit my gym at odd hours, as I’m concerned about how much space these hip thrusts are going to take up. I’ve got this and I’m EXCITED.
