Hey everyone, I need your help. My father is currently suffering from Decomposed Liver Disease which can cause multi-organ failure and needs immediate medical treatment. I was diagnosed with kidney failure when I was just 6 years old.
Now I’m 22 years old and have spent the last 18 years of my life fighting death.
I’m closer than ever to fulfilling my dreams of being a doctor, but first, I need to survive this disease.
I’ve always been an active person. As a child, I loved to run around and play and as I grew older, my friends and I would often meet to play different sports.
However, one day when I returned home from school, my legs were feeling unusually sore. My mother thought I must be tired after a long day at school and kept me home.
Yet, even after days of rest, I wasn’t feeling any better.
Worried about my condition, my parents took me to the hospital.
Despite being just 6 years old, I knew something was gravely wrong when the doctors took me in for test after test.
Finally, they diagnosed me with kidney disease that was causing my kidney to fail.
“My parents were shocked to hear the news of my disease. Nobody in our family has ever had such a serious illness at such a young age. They had no idea how they would pay for my treatment.”
My father Mohammed Rafi is an agricultural labourer. His earnings are just enough to take care of daily needs.
Whatever savings he has, he spent on our education in the hopes that my siblings and I make a better life for ourselves.
We went from hospital to hospital seeking a cure for my disease. I tried innumerable different medications and treatments to save my kidneys from failing.
Through all of this, I was determined not to waste my time here. I studied hard and passed school with good marks and cleared the NEET exam.
However, now all my hard work is coming to an abrupt end. Despite our best efforts, none of the medication and treatments have worked.
I’m now facing end stage kidney failure and a transplant is the only way I will survive. My father has matched as a full donor, but the procedure will cost us Rs 9 lakh ($ 12029.26).
After years of spending everything we have, my parents can no longer help me. They’ve given up all their valuables, sold their land, and borrowed huge amounts from relatives to get this far.
