It's been a hard week, for sure. But I think it's going to be a great weekend! Who wants to share why? I'll go first! 🙋🏽 - Shabbat with boyfriend and family from California! - hand-delivering a beautiful ketubbah (not this one! It's a surprise!) to my dear friends' wedding! And then a week in Canada with family! - all my written exams are passed and now I just have my orals! - eclipse ✨🌞🌚🌒✨(which by the way, the Talmud says is caused by homosexuality, so, you're welcome! 😘🌈) - Bannon➡️Bannoff! Shabbat shalom! What's bringing you joy for the weekend?

Mazal tov to Y and N on their first week of married life! Y's family is from Isfahan so they requested a ketubbah inspired by this 250-year-old example, but with more vibrant colours. 💖🎨💕 How did I do? 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽Shabbat shalom!

I was racing against the clock to get this ketubbah finished on time... 😂⏰👀‼️😜 Glad it's finally in the mail! I'll be speaking about the history of the ketubbah at the Sabes JCC this Thursday at 7pm, along with some other renowned artists and rockstar rabbis! Real talk: it's a little hard not to feel lost and discouraged. I can continue to do what I know how to do: make art, teach Torah, study history... But I feel like I want and need to be doing more. I'd love your suggestions: what are some actions you've found that make you feel hopeful and empowered, and making a difference where it matters? The ketubbah I'm working on now (Djerba, 1858) features the "Seed of Life": a fitting reminder that the most powerful of things - patterns, movements, people - can begin with the smallest of seeds.

Such a beautiful choice of colors!

Thanks dear! The original (which you can see here) has the border alternating between yellow, blue, orange, green, and brown, which I felt was a little bit much so I tried to simplify a little. :)

I saw these sweet eight-fold stars on Samira Mian’s feed and they were the perfect thing to finish off this ketubbah, inspired by an Algerian ketubbah from Oran, 1847 (in the original, there’s a French stamp in the corner!).
