More Than Just One Lifetime by Key Losers

Enjoying bandcampsnoop’s recent Ed Askew post, I was reminded of this excellent 2011 release from Key Losers. Not so much in the sound (though there is some overlap), but Katy Davidson from Key Losers first told me about Mr. Askew. Katy led the band Dear Nora through several excellent albums in the 2000s. California Lite by Key Losers (named after a classic GBV tune) was recorded almost completely live with minimal overdubs. The songs here filter soft rock, smooth jazz, classic rock, folk, and art rock into a unique mix that recall a loose 70s vibe contrasted with images of the changing western landscape and the oddities of our tech saturated world. Sounds remind of Joni Mitchell mixed with the diy ethos of K Records (on whose releases several of the musicians have appeared).
