YES. I can recognize the regressive tropes that pop up in the books, but to me, it’s no worse than something like Outlander, which is widely embraced for having a strong female lead, even though it’s full of problematic stuff. Twilight lets Bella recognized when her situation is fucked up, and she mostly calls people out on it (she tears every male in that series apart, I swear), so she’s GREAT.
