It’s just a small peck on the lips. It really shouldn’t have made Val react the way she did (i.e. not at all), but it simply caught her so off guard. She hated being caught off guard. Usually, anyways. But this time she was okay with it.
Here’s the thing, usually it’s her initiating any sort of physical contact with Josephine. It’s almost always Val reaching for Josie’s hand, or grabbing Josie’s waist and pulling her roughly in for a kiss. To an extent it was a display of her power, but it was also because Josie hardly ever came to Val asking to spend time together. Were it not for the shy glances that she sent to Val during the War Room meetings and if not for the fact that she was so responsive every time Val brought her in close, the Lady Trevelyan would have doubted that Josephine was interested in her at all.
But this all happened so fast. Cullen had delivered his most recent report and Leliana had sent her scouts out to the Emerald Graves to gather resources. Everything that was on the agenda for that day had been addressed. The meeting was adjourned. Josie collected her stack of correspondence letters with notable foreign dignitaries. She moved to return back to her office, stopping briefly by Val. She pushed onto the balls of her feet and reached up, pressing a chaste kiss to the corner of Val’s mouth.
And Val froze, her lips moving to kiss back after Josie had already pulled back. She could feel the blush creeping up her neck, threatening to turn her face as red as her hair. Josie smiled sweetly at her, and Maker that just made her feel even more incompetent. What was she, fourteen again? She was going to stutter out an apology, something new she’s been trying, but Josie gave her arm a gentle squeeze.
“I have a surprise for you,” Josephine says.
“Oh?” Valeria questions, cocking her head to the side and trying to regain her composure with a smirk.
Josie nods and grins, taking Val’s hand and leading her out of the war room and into her office.
8. What mistake(s) do they continue to make/have not learned from?
He doesn’t back down from a fight. Especially from bullies. So no matter how many their are, how much bigger they are, he’ll stand his ground. It would be an admirable trait if it didn’t usually end up with a black eye or bruised rib. Now that Yail has Iomhar and Zevran, people think twice before picking fights with him. And when they do it anyway, they have his back.
20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)
The idea that no one cares for him. Even after he found two boyfriends and a half-dozen other close friends, it’s always in the back of his mind.
13. In what ways might they be overly negative and/or pessimistic?
Overall, no ways really. He stays fairly positive. And even when he’s lying to himself or others just to keep everyone happy, a small part of him believes it and it eventually is spoken into existence.
okay 1 and 17 for sofia, 11 and 18 for antonio, 15 and 2 for voski
long post is long here it is under the cut
Sofia
1. What is one thing others might find intolerable about them?
she can be really absent minded sometimes and she gets lost in her haid pretty easily, which makes zevran laugh sometimes because she’ll almost literally have her head in the clouds but it gets frustrating because that’s really not a trait that a grey warden or the queen of ferelden should have. She’s also kind of spoiled, i mean she grew up rich and had a bit of a hard time adapting to sleeping on bedrolls and constantly being covered in blood and mud, and she was very vocal about it too, which drove morrigan up the wall.
20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)
she’s haunted by the thought that she should have saved her mother and father, that had she done something different, that maybe they’d still be alive and she wouldn’t be elbow deep in darkspawn
Antonio
11. What are their intellectual shortcomings?
omg… well… he’s not booksmart if that’s what this is asking. He can read and write just fine, but is selectively good at problem solving. He doesn’t know how to play chess and probably shouldn’t be invited to tea with the nobles, but give him a deck of cards for wicked grace and some people to play with and he’ll clean them out and leave them with not even the lint in their pockets.
18. Are they ever a pushover about something? If so, how?
omg no not really, Tonio is a stubborn idiot and may oftentimes refuse just out of pure spite. But if it’s something that really matters he’ll do it.
Voski
2. Do they have any annoying quirks? If so, what are they?
he whistles to fill silence and it’s cute and all at first because sometimes he’ll come up with little tunes that make cole smile and bounce his head up and down but sometimes it’ll just be a single droning sound that’s half a step below an actual note and it echoes off the stone walls in skyhold so like everyone hears it. Josie has taken to keeping a stash of earplugs in her desk drawers.
15. How might they be ignorant or prejudiced?
he grew up dalish and became a hunter so almost all interactions he’s had with humans have been hostile, and when they weren’t hostile, there was an underling feeling of mistrust and dislike. He opens up over time (kind of has to as the inquisitor), but he still makes a point to be as ignorant as possible about humans/human customs around the orlesian nobility because fuck if he’s going to let them talk to him like that, if he was still with the clan and ran into them he would have probably killed (or at least mildly maimed) them for saying some of those things
OH OKAY !!! for the Warden-specific ones, I’ll be using my first Warden, Aivan Cousland. Because the decisions made were the ones that I would have made myself. :)
Under cut cause longness...
50: What does your Warden like most about themselves?
Aivan’s proud of his diplomatic and friendly nature. He believes it’s a big part as to why he was able to save the day.
51: What is something other people like about your Warden?
Probably the same answer I said above, his kindness.
52: Is your Warden introverted or extroverted? (or somewhere in between?)
Very friendly, but overall introverted.
53: Does your Warden enjoy nature?
He doesn’t mind it. He prefers to be in a comfy room with a good book though.
54: What did your Warden think of Lothering?
A nice, small town, in an unfortunate situation. He might have wanted to live there one day if things were different. Somewhere he could see the windmill.
55: What did your Warden think of the problem in the Brecilian Forest? How did they solve it?
He didn’t like the secrets and deception. He stood his ground until both battling parties reached an agreement.
56: What did your Warden think of the problem at the Circle of Magi? How did they solve it?
His goal was to save as many lives as he could. When he was trapped in the fade, he was tempted to remain, but the thought of losing his friends drove him to battle against the demons.
57: What did your Warden think of the problem at Redcliffe? How did they solve it?
With everyone terrified, Aivan had no choice but to not be afraid. He rallied the town to fight for each other. Then in the castle, he put faith in Jowan and let Lady Isolde sacrifice herself.
58: What did your Warden think of the problem in Orzammar? How did they solve it?
To him, it was obvious that Lord Harrowment was working for the people, not just himself. He sided with him to the end, and used diplomacy whenever possible.
59: What did your Warden think of the Landsmeet? How did they solve it?
Admittingly, there was a sense of pleasure in finishing off Howe. But again, he strived to find a peaceful solution before resorting to violence. He let Alistair kill Loghain.
60: Who does your Warden put on the throne?
Queen Anora. He respected Alistair’s wishes and had faith in Anora.
61: Your favourite NPC?
I liked King Cailan. :c Also the Great Oak!
62: Your favourite main quest?
I honestly enjoy the Orzammar questline the most. Lots of politics, old ruins, my cup of tea. I do wish it was shorter though.
63: Your favourite side quest?
Anything with a puzzle. The Gauntlet, the ones in the werewolf ruins...
64: Your favourite DLC quest?
I’ve only three, the quest to find Shale, Return to Ostagar, and Warden’s Keep. I liked all of them for different reasons.
65: Have you installed any mods?
I have not, though I’d like to.
66: Did your Warden make use of Morrigan’s offer right before the battle against the Archdemon/the Blight?
I did. Or err, Alistair did. I didn’t want anyone to die.
67: If your Warden could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
No, he stands by decisions.
68: Can your Warden sing and/or dance?
Ha! Yeah, sure.
69: Do you have any headcanons about your Warden that are not/go against canon?
Aivan Cousland is not actually a part of the main Cousland family, but one that simply shares distant ancestry. After his parents died, the family took him in. But he has no full claims to the property or legacy.
70: On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the highest score possible, how much of a Dragon Age fan are you?
I’d say an 8, only because I’m still not fully knowledgeable on the game lore and haven’t played II or Inquisition yet.
