Catching up to KFAM and knitting at the same time.
Every time I get stressed I drop a stitch.
TLDR this scarf is fucked.
Can we talk about Jack?
Because was that Jack? There are several things to consider when dealing with the Void. Possibilities I think are plausible:
It is him but he is evil and corrupted by the void.
He is actually dead but a puppet for a Shadow/the Shadow Maker to talk through. (Like Cecil in 100)
He is alive but is possessed by other entities. (Cecil before 100)
Jack is split into 2 forms. Evil and normal Jack.
Not Jack at all. Some other entity.
@ronbegleyformayor Mentioned Jack the middle didn’t sound like Jack at the end, and I agree. I can’t isolate the middle part where Jack is talking, but from what I can tell, he says:
“Hello? ... Can you hear me?” (Sounds scared)
“You (’re?)- here. Friend- here. I wro-”
“You- Save.”
“All (I’ll?) be home.”
Also, it was over a PHONE call. He specifically hung up and there was the hotline dial when he came on the air. Also, there was also a LOT of static.
On the other hand, the Jack at the end of the episode DIDN’T COME THROUGH THE PHONE. No dial sound. Not to mention Ben says “There’s no call.” Even if it was a mistake, there is just a tiny bit of static and “Hello?” instead of all the garbling. Also, it is really echo-y. When Debbie calls in, the echoing goes away... unless the Shadow Maker is there. In episode 89 Debbie only echoes in the beginning and when she tries to get Death by Damnation (and you can hear the Shadow Maker in the background laughing). Not with Jack.
Also, later Jack (now Shadow Jack) had this weird laugh that wasn’t exactly the Shadow Maker but was almost corrupted. If it was like when Cecil was possessed I’d say Jack is possessed, but it didn’t sound like that. It was different. It’s like Shadow Jack’s voice went down 2 octaves. And if you compare to Debbie, when Debbie calls in ep 89: Late Fees and goes batshit crazy, her voice doesn’t get weird. It gets angry, not corrupted or low.
With that in mind, Shadow Jack sounded mean. Not scared, but mean, sure, and happy. It was out of character. For example, he called Sammy “Stevens” which doesn’t feel right. He also talks about how great the Void. Middle Jack was scared and so was Debbie. Not Shadow Jack. Shadow Jack is happy about the Void, and when he isn’t immediately joined by Sammy, he hurts him. Shadow Jack also cuts Sammy down, bullying him with awful phrases I don’t think the real Jack would’ve said.
Lastly, he knew too much. “Your heart is in the Void with me.” That line was not only specifically calling back to when Sammy said, “Home is where the heart is, and my heart is in the Void with Jack fucking Wright.” on-air in episode 71, but when Jack says it there is that weird low echoing. That is WAY too specific. Also, we don’t learn any new information. It seems that Shadow Jack is just regurgitating whatever info was let go on air or on the podcast feed.
I think Shadow Jack is a creature that listened to whatever came through the Void and took on the persona of Jack. He is using this persona to trick Sammy and lure him in, along with others.
Oh, and a final quick thought. What the fuck does Jack mean by “soon.”?
UM HOLY SHIT??? YOU CANT END IT LIKE THAT
Me: might as well rip the bandaid off and listen to episode 100
Episode 100: no intro, starts with Ben opening line 13 that has some creepy ass static and echo
