Leaders of the Down-City Crews, Part ½ (full view for leaders’ names)
Today's left-handed character is Khatah from Dragon Booster
If you could remake Dragon Booster, what personalities and alignments, in terms of the heroes, would you give to the leaders of the other crews? Because it feels like they're all juggling Helper and Antagonist balls based on what the plot needs.
There is a lot of juggling in terms of who’s on what side in the show…Wulph is especially guilty. He’s effectively the Crew Leader equivalent of a swing state, you could say. It’s really annoying…but given what we know about their personalities when they’re not being fickle little crow-drags…
Under a read more because this got in-dEPTH.
• Phistus: Chaotic Good – Phistus wants what’s best for everyone in Down City, everyone who has less then stellar living conditions. As shown by his fervent attempts at making sure the Council keeps the peace, and by his speech in The Defiants when the hope for the Academy is tenuous, Phistus truly does care about the people around him. However, he is stubborn and he is brash, and is easily frustrated when people just can’t get their crap together. If his many bouts of table-fist-banging is any indication, though he tries to make a change he doesn’t always have the best methods.• Pyrrah: Chaotic Neutral – Pyrrah uses fire analogies often, and I personally think she is a fire analogy. As with fire, she can as easily provide warmth for those around her as she can burn them, oftentimes the latter occurs when she is acting without thought. She promotes freedom and being yourself, but is not above using people if it aids her—where Phistus wants what’s best for all, she wants what’s best for her and hers. But despite her occasionally problematic behavior, Pyrrah can be an ally, and even if she is against you she has more chance then most to be brought to her senses.• Khatah: Neutral Good – Khatah can be counted on for more often than not behaving honorably, but whether or not logic is involved often depends on the circumstances. He can be really stubborn (not Phistus stubborn but close) from time to time, but when the situation is dire and you really need him, he can prove reliable. Khatah wants to do what is right, but is not above breaking the rules to fix things his way when he thinks something's wrong. Though not always one for tradition, when he dedicates himself to something only his honor code prevents him from going too far.• Vociferous: Neutral Evil – If you think you matter to Vociferous, it’s only because he needs you for something and is lying to your face to keep you. Despite being a director and not an actor, don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s not all about him—in his eyes, it is. If he wants something he will fight hard for it, and the only things he doesn’t resort to is destruction and mayhem. Manipulation, lying, trickery, you name it; anything aside from physical acts he’ll use to further his goal. You think you’re Vociferous’ ally? Watch your back…he may stab it if he’s done with you and it’ll benefit him. Make sure any deals you make with him are rock solid, or else you’ll fall through quicksand.• Wulph: Lawful Neutral – In a world where he doesn’t change sides every other episode, Wulph is a pillar of strength, law, and order. He leads his Army with an iron fist, and they respect his strength and follow his orders to the letter. But don’t take his adherence to honor and rules as a fail-safe against betrayal—he also has a personal code that he falls back on. If he thinks you’re wrong for him or his crew–or if you’ve wronged him, heaven forbid lied to him–then he and his Army will bear down on you like a Purple tsunami of claws and penning gear.• Reepyr: Lawful Good – Reepyr seeks peace, and loathes conflict unless it was absolutely necessary. He is honorable to a fault and turns to his sense of duty as a Prophet when he has nothing else. He and his Prophets gave themselves to the dragons because they once believed humanity could no longer be trusted with the fate of the world. With his eyes opened to the truth that no one race can be trusted with so much responsibility alone, Reepyr has rededicated himself to peace, upholding compassion and camaraderie above all else and striving to staunch out tyranny.• Chute: Chaotic Good – Chute is all about friendship and good sportsmanship, but is also very approving of a healthy rivalry. She loves racing for the sake of the wind through your hair, and the thrill of the leap off an edge. If evil is being done in her presence, and she can put a stop to it, you had better believe Chute is on the move. Whether it’s exactly legal doesn’t really matter in her eyes; if she can keep something bad from happening, or save an innocent from wrongful arrest, she’s not against being the target of a manhunt. In fact, it sounds like a lot of fun!• Marianis: Lawful Good – Marianas believes in doing good, in treating people fairly and behaving properly. She can be a tad ornery or sassy at times, but that’s just how she is. She isn’t one for being boring, you know; what she isn’t for is thievery, subterfuge, and evil. If a wrong is being done and she can stop it, Marianas will try her utmost…but preferably not in a way that would make her feel she was stooping to the level of those she loathes. Some of her crew suspect she may have a goddess-complex, if the name she gave her dragon means anything.• Stewardd: Neutral Good – Stewardd likes peace and quiet, he likes the freedom to do what he does. The Keepers are both tinkerers and hiders, the latter to safeguard the results of the former; and as their leader, Stewardd embodies that more than most. He wants to help very much, but doing what he’s told doesn’t really sit well with him. If he can help, he will help—regardless of what you told him to do or not to do. Stewardd knows stealing is bad, but that’s okay because he doesn’t steal, he borrows and makes it better and gives it back! If it helps, why should he follows the “rules”?• Moordryd: Neutral Evil(formerly) – In the beginning of the series, Moordryd is very much his father’s son. He steals dragons for the Wraith Army, he schemes and is not above cheating. He’ll help you, but probably just to get something out of you for himself and/or his crew. Oh, did you get hurt? Too bad! So sad! He won the race! Moordryd is even not above using his own crew, as evident by the many many times he took advantage of his friend Cain, or ordered him to do something he could easily do himself; but didn’t feel like doing, or didn’t want to deal with the consequences of. Chaotic Good(Academy, potentially) – After the Battle for the Ages when he and Artha teamed up with their (disguised) fathers to face Abandonn, after witnessing an injured Artha endure horrible pain for what he believed in, Moordryd’s gradual change and signs of goodness truly began to show. Where once Moordryd would’ve welcomed a Wraith sent by his father, as he had when he jousted Phistus for council leadership, he felt only disdain and anger. His independence hardened as he even tried to fight off the Wraith on Artha’s behalf, or mercifully pleaded Artha to stop so he wouldn’t get hurt. The hero that Beau saw in him when he allowed the lad to mount him, who broke himself free of Furox and tried to remove the bonemark he planted, finally reveals himself.• Rivett(?): Chaotic Neutral – As leader of the Mechanists (I think? must fact check later), Rivett epitomizes their fixation with profit more than most. Very rarely does he involve himself with other people's’ matters, but when he does you had better believe there’s something he wants. Not one to be wasteful in the least, Rivett will do whatever gets him something or further his goals. Unfortunately for everyone around him, they are but fodder that he’s all right with using, no matter who you are. Moreover, he will only be honest with you if it’ll be worth it, and if he thinks you won’t hinder him if he’s truthful. Profit before anything is how the Mechanists are, and it’s surely how Rivett is.• Kawake: Lawful Good – Kawake is all about honor and compassion, about listening and understanding. He will never be the one to judge, for he will not so easily take your word for it at face value. He understands that people are complicated, and that black and white are extremes that people rarely actually perpetuate. If he thinks you’re being truthful with him, he will honor you with his alliance and his steadfastness; like a mountain he is hard to move, so you don’t want to be the one pushing…or in the way of an avalanche. Don’t think he’s a perfect man, though; as the victim of an accident that left the bottom half of his body paralyzed, he is vulnerable to subtle emotional manipulation. The subject can leave him blind and cause even Kawake to judge—either he will let his emotions blind you to your assistance, or blind him to your using him. But when all is said and done, Kawake is the one guy you can trust to be the foundation that’ll never let you fall.
If you could, how about one with the DownCity crews? Like Pyrrah or Katah? I really like the supporting characters in DB. ^_^
Pyrrha was found the next morning fast asleep beside a charred baking tray.
