My follower count has been climbing like MAD lately, so I wanted to do a shout out to some of my favorite DA fics.
These are by no means ALL the fics that I love, these are just a choice handful, and I will definitely do more of these in the future. (Also pls read the warnings and ratings on these! Many are definitely NSFW. Like. So much.)
@chanty92 AKA Enchant on AO3- The whole Two Wardens are Better Than One series. A Harrowing Ordeal was I think the first DA fic I ever read, and it just drew me right in. There are far too many ships for me to name, but essentially, Surana bangs everyone, and it is glorious. Check these out for fantastic storytelling, gooey fluff, titillating smut, and oh GOD the anGST. Awesome multiple-warden headcanon, this story starts in Origins, drifts seamlessly into Awakening, and is currently progressing through DA2. I can’t wait to see what other magic Chanty makes for us!
@khirsahle AKA Khirsah on AO3- Fire, Walk With Me is one of my favorite FenHawke pieces. It is a soulmate AU that I don’t want to butcher by attempting to explain myself, but it is a riveting slow burn that brought me to real life tears. Seriously. Angst abound. As the World Falls Down and All I Ask of You are two sides of the same story. Essentially, there’s a masquerade at Skyhold, and Cullen and Trevelyan indulge in some mouth-watering, anonymous sex. What more could you ask for.
@kauriart AKA Kauri on AO3- If you are in the market for some smut, then look no further folks, cause this is some juicy stuff ;) ;) Letters From Orlais (and the prequel) has a new kink for every chapter, and it is DELICIOUS. VERY NSFW. There are maybe 10 words throughout the whole work that are safe for work. I may be exaggerating slightly, but my point is: PORN. GOOD. Thank you.
@elvensemi AKA ElvenSemi on AO3- Keeping Secrets is essentially the iconic slowburn. We are 86 chapters in folks, and the good stuff just keeps on coming. The main character is loveable Emma, AKA “you.” One of the only second-person fics I’ve read, and after a point you just sort of accept it, like, “yes okay Solas did say this to me.” People ship Emma with any number of people (Iron Bull, Krem, Cullen, Sera, Josie...I could go on) but I’m pretty sure it’s a Solasmancing fic.
@feynites AKA Feynite on AO3- Looking Glass and The Dread Wolf’s Heart are some of the few post-trespasser (or trespasser replacing) Solavellan AUs that I can tolerate reading, because I can’t handle the hurt. These are not necessarily easy on the pain (they are definitely not, omg, ouch, etc) but they are definitely worth it. Feynite never once describes Lavellan physically, and yet manages to paint a clearer picture of the character than some might manage with a whole book full of descriptions. Quality stuff.
Delazeur on AO3- Questions Answered was unexpected. F!Hawke x Alistair x Anders. This is one of the most well-rounded stories I have read, and despite not being the longest, it has incredible character depth, lovely descriptions, and sizzling smut. This is definitely one of my favorite portrayals of Anders, and the only time I will tolerate Alistair’s drunkard timeline (protect him). Caralyn Hawke is hilarious and SO relatable, and makes for 1/3 of the most unexpectedly sweet thruple I’ve encountered yet.
I can’t recommend any of these fics enough. I hope anyone enjoys any of these as much as I have, because these authors are all incredibly skilled and amazing, and I look forward to reading any of their further works!
